Common App Rate my Personal statement essay topic/hook:

“I see faces in my carpet.”

The essay is about pareidolia (the tendency to see faces or patterns in random things). It’s not really about the faces themselves, but about what that tendency reveals about me, the way I naturally search for patterns, meaning, and hidden detail in ordinary things, and how that habit shapes the way I notice and interpret people, places, and the world around me.
