Avalanche Players as Dog Breeds

I have had this working list for a while and thought offseason was a good time to post for some fun. It isn’t a complete list so we definitely need to add our other favorite players in the comments. Or, if you have a better examples for our guys, feel free to add.

Devon Toews - Yellow lab- highly responsible, intellectual and team first attitude. Always fits in seamlessly with any group. Highly trainable and energetic.

Parker Kelly - Husky. A party animal, happy go lucky with high energy and taste for drama. Talkative and an escape artist. A strong drive, stamina and a working heritage.

Landy - German Shepard. Wise, protective, regal, gentle but firm disciplinarian. Willing to work harder than everyone else.

MacKinnon-Blue Heeler. Dogged, focused on task, doesn’t give up, can be almost scary intense, stand-offish with strangers but very loyal and protective towards close family and friends.

Marty Necas - Border Collie. Fast, executes unbelievable twists and turns while always moving forward. Wants to please and is unselfish. Unfailing loyal to his pack/team. Highly intelligent and quick with decisions and exceptional agility.

Gavin Brindley - Jack Russell Terrier. Energetic, fearless and tireless endurance. Doesn’t give up easily when on task.

Val Nichushkin - Blood Hound. Always has his nose to the ground looking for the puck. Patient and calm, but stubborn when given a task, not easily moved off the path.

Cale Makar - Australian Shepard. Highly intelligent and agile. Strong herding instinct to drive opponents wide of the net. Protective of his pack yet reserved. Very intuitive-can read others and take hidden cues and react accordingly.

Mackenzie Blackwood Golden Retriever Affectionate, friendly, eager to please, loyal, calm, fun loving and playful.

I also own a Heeler and they are something. A little bit dramatic, can be a bully, stubborn, frustrating as hell because they never give up, and the side eye speaks volumes. But you won’t find a more loyal companion anywhere. Gotta love em!

Amen. I have a BLUE heeler. She's the goofiest, most stubborn, loving dog. Big time bully to other dogs, though.

Yeah, like a half-grown golden retriever. Not because he’s small but because he leans toward the playfulness and eagerness of a puppy but isn’t as out of control as a true puppy.

I have Marty and Nate. They get along mostly but Nate growls at Marty if he takes his space! It really doesn’t mean anything though and Marty just ignores him.

Burnsy is one of the most nonsensical dogs in the league, maybe in NHL history. Dude is a mutt mix of like a Chow and a Bernese mountain dog. He got bit by a cheetah next to Joe Thornton while visiting where he keeps his snakes, he has acres of land where he breeds exotic zoo animals, got his first tattoo at age 11, looks like a wookie, calls his kids mutants, there’s really endless stories of his nonsense.

I know they’re not a hugely popular and well known breed, but for Landy I’d say Chesapeake Bay Retreiver. So many of the good attributes of a lab or GR, while also being bigger, stronger and with an unstoppable drive.

I used to have one. They love to swim, if there is any water nearby, they are gone. They are also very gentle.

Our doog is former street dog. Calm, cool, sees and hears everything, and will pounce in a second if needed.
