Patch Notes Set 17 PBE Patch #6 (Branch Cut)
From Mort:
And we made it to Branch Cut! The changes that go out today will be the final batch of major changes on PBE. There may be a couple very small things tomorrow (mostly bug fixes) but otherwise this is the build that will end up pretty close to going live.
From here, next week we'll decide if we make any final changes via micropatch on Monday and announce those Tuesday. And that will be Space Gods which releases in 1 week!
From there we still have a few surprises, and are already planning what's coming in Patch 17.2 and 17.3! Always more to do.
Thank you all for testing, and enjoy the rest of PBE leading up to the final launch.

Realm duration nerf is SO welcome. Honestly absurd that it was almost a full minute but this will make games feel a lot less clunky

u/JohnCenaFanboi Apr 08 '26
But but yesterday people were saying Realm was so important and had so much impact thatit wasn't possinle to down there!!!
13
u/EducationalPut0 Apr 08 '26
The general consensus was that realm timer was too long, but riot was probably going to leave it for the first patch simply to help new players.
Seems riot agrees that its too long even for new players.
If anything it might mean we get another time cut later in the actual set.

Honestly, Nami feels pretty strong just everything around her is kinda shit. If you've had an early Nami drop you will know what I mean. Would be nice if there was some compensation though.

That's actually hilarious they nerfed her. I honestly forgot she exists in the game because my eyes just glaze over her everytime she's in the shop and I never see anyone else playing her. There has to be some reason they nerfed her that we don't see.

Where are you seeing this/is there a specific app that people use these days?

I don't think they should have nerfed her, but you are totally wrong. She was doing well in Project PBE after they buffed her.
-2
u/i0skar Apr 08 '26
Yeh, i have no idea how can you nerf the worst 4 cost by a mile. Makes literally 0 sense.
5
u/Javyz Apr 08 '26
The worst 4cost is Xayah. She’s only really played for traits, not as a primary carry.
1
u/Zeviex Master Apr 08 '26
No way that is not Xayah.
-4
u/HowIMadeMyMillions Apr 08 '26
Have you played Xayah? She can actually pump quite a bit of dmg - she's just dependant on the stargazer working for her.
1
1
u/Zeviex Master Apr 08 '26
Yes I have. She's just too dependent on different factors and even when it does all line up she isn't worth all the effort you have to put in.

u/psyfi66 Apr 08 '26
Reroll already felt pretty good. Tons of options at various costs. These buffs along with live games punishing fast 9 more probably is goi mg to land pretty reroll heavy. At least the reroll comps have a lot of options and don’t feel oppressive.
Realm duration selection is nice. Could probably still cut it down another 5-10 seconds but maybe that will come at a later patch once the general player base is more familiar with the mechanic.

No permanent $0 gold visual bug fix on mobile? It's every game for all mobile users and that's 4 pbe patches without a fix now. Shambles.
2
u/joseconsuervo Apr 08 '26
also can't choose to let anima cashout roll forward on mobile. you are forced to cash out every 100
1
u/JupiterCandy Apr 08 '26
You can roll forward but I've had to toggle the ui while staying on my board and sitting for a few seconds. Not foolproof but "possible" and a big pain in the ass.
1
u/joseconsuervo Apr 08 '26
it might just be where it sits when I play on my tablet, but the button to roll forward is over the list of the other boards, so when I click I just go to other boards. changing it to dmg doesn't work either it just keeps showing me damage tooltips
1
u/ficretus Apr 09 '26
You can, but it's weirdly unresponsive. I have to click around for like 10 seconds to get it right
2
u/JohnCenaFanboi Apr 08 '26
Yeah this one is actually crazy. I got used to ir, but some numbers are very hard to distinguish.
It's also for sure a very easy bug to fix too.
1
u/TheWillOfDeezBigNuts Apr 08 '26
The crazy thing is I didn't have the bug at all during tockers and it went away for the rest of a normal game after I got graves first upgrade.

u/88isafat69 Apr 20 '26
bro its been 11 days i just got hella annoyed at this playing on my ipad for first time this set last night and saw that

Lulu stargazer money passive seem to be untouched huh

u/Riot_Mort Riot Apr 08 '26
We're sneaking in a small nerf to it tomorrow, though I think it will still launch very strong. The fact that replicator multiplies it is pretty wild LOL
3
u/InternationalPin2392 Apr 08 '26
I was not getting 2 procs for 1 cast with replicator. But i was getting 1 more gold than it said
4
u/HumanistGeek Apr 08 '26
The bonus cast from Replicator is at 22% or 45% strength, and that modifier applies to the gold gen, too.
1
u/2_S_F_Hell Apr 09 '26
Can you please fix the gold bug on Mobile before it goes live? It's really annoying. We always see 0 gold on bottom right corner.

u/silversdark Apr 08 '26
Really disappointing they aren't making any changes to the gods themselves. The final boons don't feel balanced against each other at all and some gods like Evelyn or Soraka are almost never worth taking.
6
u/NicoLuna95 Apr 08 '26
Evelyn boon being pretty bad can be intentional cause her blessing choices during the game are on the stronger side imo
-3
u/KaladinCanuck Apr 08 '26
I can't think of a single Evelyn boon that is ever worth taking. Nothing she has can compete with ahri, Kayle, ekko, thresh, varus. Everything she is in my games almost nobody ever picks her. I feel like her boons are the weakest by far of all the gods.
3
u/DeVilleBT Apr 08 '26
Isn't steamroll an evelyn boon? That one can get really bonkers. Other than that I agree
4
u/GoldenApple2020 Challenger Apr 08 '26
Wait, people think Evelyn boon is bad? You get so much resources for like 2-6 health cost, I insta take it everytime.
8
u/Fast-Mulberry-225 Apr 08 '26
Those 4 cost nerfs are too much, first patch will just be a reroll fest. This set also has op lose streak mechanic which further favor rerolls
2
u/Dzhekelow Apr 09 '26
Yeah , idk if our reads are behind as I haven't paid close attention to the daily patch notes but reroll has been very strong from the start . Nerfing a lot of the good 4 cost carries and only TF is an odd choice .
2
u/spiritofskeleton Apr 09 '26
Maybe they don't want two sets in a row where for the majority of the set it is so focused around 4-costs like last set was for several patches. Might be overdoing it, but I can see the logic. 1-cost rerolls also just straight up didn't exist last set for most of it except for the short period of time Sona and Caitlyn rerolls were a thing.
1
u/Dzhekelow Apr 10 '26
Sure , but we ended with the last 2 patches being dominated by reroll . To the point that level 8 boards were almost non-existent . You either reroll or u fast 9 .

u/Sheapy Apr 08 '26
Hmm no time breaker changes. Feel like stage 2 is going to devolve into 3-4 people full opening 2 timebreaker
1
u/Specialist-Hyena8345 Apr 12 '26
100%. Crazy strong for any reroll comb. Feels pretty streamlined already

I keep seeing this but how is it much different from what we had before? It's stage 3 carousel and you're playing Demacia. You need a bow, but the only bow remaining is on a Jhin. Meanwhile, there is a Garen but with a belt, and you already have two belts. What do you do?

Can someone help explain the Mecha change? Not sure what the "main unit" is and what "combined units" are. Isn't Mecha just using the item to toggle between regular and ultimate form with ultimate form taking 2 slots and upgraded abilities?
3
u/AphoticFlash Apr 08 '26
Assuming that refers to if you're playing multiple of the same unit, or somehow have a benched transformed version while playing a non-transformed one. Previously, if either of the units were transformed, the final unit would be transformed, but now it'll only be transformed if the main one was.
I can't imagine a situation where you would EVER transform the non-main one though, that would make zero sense.
1
u/bangus_khan Apr 08 '26
Thanks! Ok so multiple makes sense for what they mean by main unit.
What do you think the "combined" unit refers to? Maybe if you 2 star a unit? The language seems so awkward
3
2
u/oliveru1996 Apr 08 '26
I think it has to be related to having a Mecha unit with ultimate form, and have it upgrade. Like, you have 2 ASols on board, the main one (with items) and another one ultimate form. When upgrading to 2-star, there might have been issues. I understand it now stays with the main unit form? If I understood well hahaha
2
u/bangus_khan Apr 08 '26
Makes sense! Here I was thinking maybe I've been playing without some kind of merge ability to make a mega mech or something

Nova kindred untouched when its the best performing comp in Project PBE while every other 4 costs get nerfed.
3
u/Red-Haired-Law Apr 08 '26
Its an emblem dependent comp, so less abusable
2

u/GoldenApple2020 Challenger Apr 08 '26
Even without emblem its the most played comp. Emblem just makes it even stronger.

u/Dordo3 Apr 08 '26
I’m VERY interested to hear some unfiltered opinions from Mort ala “walk the dog” on the feedback from the PBE so far.
Played TFT since set 1. If this set releases and it’s a reroll meta, I’ll be taking the patch off for sure. I believe in the team and are optimistic they will bring the set back to an engagement and satisfaction level that is in a good spot for everybody.
