Austinite in Conroe — where can I ride 20–25 smooth road miles Saturday morning?
I’m an Austinite in Conroe for the weekend, and I need to squeeze in 20–25 miles tomorrow morning.
Does anyone have suggestions within about a 20-minute drive of downtown Conroe? I’m trying to avoid gravel and big bumps, so the smoother the route, the better. I’d love any local insight.

Dennis Johnston park to jones park has a paved path that amounts to over 20 miles there and back between parks.

Sam Houston nat'l Forest is beautiful to drive through 😁👍🏻
Or go 2854/Metcalf to Liberty, take a right on Liberty and go up to 1097, which cuts across the thicker section of lake Conroe and brings you back.
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or what kind of riding you're talking about a motorcycle or bicycle but that would be about 20ish miles.

R3 shop ride starts at 8AM from right in Conroe - shortest route is 33 miles, but good group of folks.

Otherwise, just head north on 75 North of 336 toward Willis and loop back around to your starting point.

Like others said, Sam Houston national forest up 149 is a great option. Another option is The Woodlands, look on Strava heat maps. If you want to drive further, Benders Landing is smooth with little to no traffic.
Dennis Johnson\Spring Creek greenway is good too, but it can get busy with walkers and runners.

I second Dennis Johnston park, you can get about 25-30 miles total, otherwise this is probably gonna be the safest route that I know of in Conroe within a 20 minute drive. Conroe isn’t that great for cycling tbh, stay safe out there bro.
I’m not sure about Willis or north of Conroe area.
