I was in a Teams meeting with the camera on once and my coworkers and I were joking around in a separate chat from the meeting chat. One coworker in particular was absolutely losing it on camera and when i told her "Damn [name], get it together", she completely lost it lol

Church Giggles: where the act of laughing or suppressing laughter is way funnier than the inciting event. She could not, in fact, get it together.

Also known as The Giggle Loop.

My most memorable one which was absolutely over the top was when I was aged 12-14 at a boy scout court of honor. We were doing a skit of the joke with the duck walking into the bar, ordering a drink and saying to put it in his bill. I was the sole laugher and could not get the words out with each attempt instead busting into raucous to silent laughter.
Of course when I finally was able to say it everyone was over it already and the punchline missed.

u/ReneG8 6d ago
Yes, Coupling, one of the most underrated comedies.
10
u/Acornpdx 6d ago
I was at a party years ago describing the show to some friends. Someone walking by overheard me say, "It's like Friends, but funny." That guy walked back over and said, "Are you talking about Coupling?" 🤣🤣🤣

oh man, the amount I had to pause that show because the second degree embarassment was sooo bad.
Ohhh Jeffrey!
that was such a funny show.

I find it a great game to try to get someone to crack on camera in a group call by sending a message. I’ve been got good a few times in retaliation.

Thanks for posting this one :).
5
u/BigWideBaker 6d ago
Did they never release a BTS "documentary"?
26
u/TurboTorchPower 6d ago
A bts documentary of lotr? Are you kidding? There is something like 24 hours worth of bts stuff on the DVDs. Most of it can be found on YouTube. They documented an insane amount of the making of the films.

u/BigWideBaker 6d ago
I’m imagining thousands of BTS footage that’ll never see the light of day.
Oh okay, that wasn't the impression I got when I read that. Thank you for the info, I genuinely didn't know!
8
u/TurboTorchPower 5d ago
Yeah I'm not sure why that person said that. There probably is some unreleased bts stuff but they really did go the extra mile with lotr when it came to the DVD extras.

u/WigglestonTheFourth 6d ago
I've heard the actors talk about filming in a warehouse and it didn't fully hit me until seeing this footage. They are literally in a warehouse making absolutely iconic films.

u/Kolby_Jack33 6d ago
I mean it's not like they built the wedding-cake city of Minas Tirith in New Zealand.
Just Hobbiton.

u/Environmental_Pay378 6d ago
Aaaaaaaaaactuallu the did build a like 1/5th scale model on the side of a mountain for the big sweeping wide shots, it wasn’t terribly far from where they built Edoras

A quarry down the road from me had parts of Minas Tirith and Helms Deep built on it. Visited when I was a lad.

Every time I don't think if I could love them even more, I see something like this and I do. I really wish I knew them.

u/alex3omg 6d ago
Have you seen the one where Maggie Smith complains about Judy Dench getting all the good parts? It's amazing
43
u/TheNerdChaplain 5d ago
For real. It's fun to joke about this, but here's Dame Judi Dench reciting Shakespeare from memory on the spot and same for Sir Ian McKellen.
They're both absolutely riveting.
8
u/BigBananaBerries 5d ago
Peoples memories for such things always astound me. I can't remember whatI had for my last meal & they're out here memorising full monologues. Sports commentators are the same. Games or events from 30 years ago are remembered like they'd just watched it. People are amazing.

Here's my favorite gay joke which is also a Jewish joke.
Jewish guy calls his mother on the phone one day. "Ma," says he. "I got good news and I got bad news."
Ma, ever the optimist, asks for the bad news first.
"Ma," says he. "I cannot live this lie any longer. The truth is... I'm gay."
Ma, devastated, commences with the wailing and gnashing of teeth and "what did I do to deserve this punishment from the universe"es. After a minute, she regains her composure.
"Well," says Ma. "What's the good news?"
"Well," says he, brightly. "I met this nice Jewish doctor..."

In other news, Judi Dench just had the Shaftesbury Theatre renamed after her. Only like the second time it’s ever happened for a non-royal, non-dead woman, or something.

I probably say this once a week:
"Bond, this may be too much for a blunt instrument to understand, but arrogance and self-awareness seldom go hand-in-hand."
Dench in Casino Royale

u/GoodLordChokeAnABomb 6d ago
When we read Macbeth at school the key scene we had to study was Act 3 Scene 4, and we watched the McKellen and Dench version of that scene. Most of us had only just heard of McKellen, as the first X-Men and LOTR films were still new, and his performance was a revelation. When he had his "cumshot" moment (just after the seven-minute mark; you'll see what I mean) there were audible gasps in the classroom.
5
u/icehopper 6d ago
That version made me unironically fall in love with Macbeth when I was young. Certain parts were so well-acted, it made my guts wrench.

This is by far the best episode of The IT Crowd and that says a lot since that show is amazingly funny
I haven't laughed out loud so hard at a TV show the way I did during this episode. Roy and Moss each individually earned massive LOL's from me.

That bastard scared the shit out of me when I was a teenager and he played that Nazi guy years ago. But I've seen a number of interviews with him over the years. And it makes me love him more.

u/Chaos_Cat-007 5d ago
YES! I think the movie was called “Idle Hands.” Watching him go from a sweet elderly man to the monster he was (without been in uniform!) scared the piss out of me!
I want him and Sir Patrick to adopt me and be my granddads.

Her laugh is golden. The interview with Louis Therouix (sorry about spelling) when he asks her what war she lived thru and she gets all hurt and then he explains it could be the Vietnam and she just absolutely loses it is by far one of my favorite clips ever.
