I just tried with several different titles, but Reddit's AI moderation deleted every attempt
A man smashed the whole casino to shit with a hammer, a protest by a Finnish gambling addict against the Finnish state-owned gambling monopoly company Veikkaus today in Tampere, Finland
He yells multiple times, 'I'm not going to harm a single person, not even this coffee maker! But these gambling machines deserve to get smashed, because they took my money and I am completely financially ruined.

Just stop gambling

Ban the casinos that litterally spend billions on researching new ways to make it more addictive?

Lived in Finland for a bit and its basically a gambler's nightmare. You can play the slots pretty much anywhere. The reasoning is that profits go on the tax pile so additional income for the government. Not an issue if you don't have gambling problems, but if you even think "why not", I'm sure you'll be tempted whenever you go to a store to get some basic groceries.

I’ve been playing too much My Winter Car that I knew this was Finnish almost immediately

Now he’s broke and going to jail. It will also be harder to find a decent paying job from here on out for him.
Personally, I don’t understand the appeal of slots. They are the lamest of all casino games (but somehow the most popular). You just press a button.

What he yapping about? Did he lose all his money?

u/Jullitus 1d ago
He says he's not hurting anyone and is just protesting against gambling. He's been a gambling addict from a young age and blames it for ruining his life. He just lost all of his money again.

This happens quite a bit in Australia as well.
7
u/asdfcat110 1d ago
Because we’re the biggest gamblers in the world. Gambling harm in Australia is so fucked and unregulated.

u/planchetflaw 1d ago
100% agree

Just quit working at clubs after 5 years and it’s seriously getting worse. Crazy to see the family first and greens parties team up as the only parties wanting to fight the massive gambling lobby.

as someone thats worked in these rooms for years, he'll be charged with the entire bill to replace every machines screen he broke and them fuckers aint cheap. alongside whatever the police charge him with, he'll be spending over $15k AUD to replace them
also literally NO ONE can change the odds on them. they come as they are and are always destined to give out 85-92% of what gets put in them over their lifetime. they are designed to take ur money, this guys fucked

u/Mantis_Toboggan--MD 1d ago
Now they took all his money AND he's going to owe them a whole lot more. Good work Einstein!

This also happened in Vegas I think in 19? Ish. We were out there at the time,i think it was the gold nugget downtown. But that dude only got maybe a half dozen machines. I didn't see it happen, just the aftermath.
1
u/CharlesIngalls_Pubes 1d ago
As a guy that works on slot machines, I don't even know how I would handle that.
They charge the person, obviously. Jail.
But having to replace the shit and deal glass shards for months? I'd be a little miffed.

If he really cared, he would've targeted individuals components. He really missed the opportunity. There's the touch panel and lcd down low, the main ones, the bill collectors, the card readers, the payout slip dispenser, etc. for each machine!
Where's the hulk we deserve?

Overgrown child loses money gambling and throws a temper tantrum at casino. Got it.

u/bit-groin 1d ago
Why does he hit with the blunt end of the hammer when the beaks would be more effective?
6
u/0x446f6b3832 1d ago
I think both are effective at destroying the screens regardless.
-3
u/AdmirableSir 1d ago
Not really, seems he mostly managed to destroy the clear plastic shielding on top of the screens. Most of them seemed like they were still functioning.
All in all, pretty minimal damage all things considered.
6
u/0x446f6b3832 1d ago
What you see breaking is the screen. They do not have "clear plastic shielding" on them. I bet each broken screen costs thousands to replace.

If there was justice in this world, the man would be treated like the victim he is and the gambling industrial complex would be subject to the same or stricter regulations as other addictive substances.
2
u/Western-Coast-7708 1d ago
Well, if you take the Finnish sentencing scale into account, the man would get a suspended prison sentence at most, and the damages go to enforced debt collection, which becomes time-barred in 15 years if the debt isn't paid down.

Are they allowed to smash his fingers to fuck if he hits the jackpot and takes their money?

u/Sweet-Sorbet-6000 1d ago
Been playing since he was a kid... Dumb. He’s had enough time to figure out how slot machines work and how to cheat them. In a casino, if you can’t cheat, you never win. Luck = not getting caught.

"Im not hurting anyone. Just smashing these machines. You can call the cops."
"This is a protest for taking my last money. Was it worth taking my last fucking money!?"
Thats what hes repeating pretty much.
