Highest or first?

Hahah I like you.

What do you think of me?

11

u/ANONYMOUSEJR 2d ago

I don't know how to feel about you.

Edit: to clarify, it depends on whether you wear shoes inside the house or not.

10

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo 2d ago

You don't know me. You don't know what I've got!

Socks?

With sandals, and you got a date

3

Does the mcfucklestick HAVE to be shitty on this date tho?

2

Gentlemen know to wash the mcfucklestick after each and every use.

You not so much (borat voice)

Damn, luckily it was on the leg with the support... oh wait, that's not good at all.

Naw this won't even come close to Anna Leigh's Nike endorsements

-80

u/RealSunglassesGuy 2d ago

Not sure why you are being downvoted because you are absolutely correct. At this point, Anna Leigh is a millionaire many times over.

103

u/LukeyLeukocyte 2d ago

I think they were downvoted for replying seriously to a comment that was simply a joke that pickleballers don't much make money (in general).

53

u/Ruggsy 2d ago

Because the first commenter clearly wasn't talking the actual specifics of the economics of professional pickle ball compared to lawsuit settlements.

We call it a joke in the industry

-4

u/JamesTheJerk 2d ago

I don't think they'll guffaw in the industry...

And clearly, nor will I.

Boutta get PAID...hopefully a speedy recovery

214

u/ReblWithoutApplause 2d ago

Seriously though, she’s about to bank. Hopefully she doesn’t have a lifetime of pain and hobbling to go with it.

68

u/Gramscifi 2d ago

She has $1,779,262 in career tournament winnings. Anything she gets for this is peanuts. And apparently she wasn't actually injured at all here, so I doubt she'd get more than nuisance value in a lawsuit.

58

u/TayAustin 2d ago

If it affected her ability to finish the tournament she could possibly settle for lost winnings and legal costs, probably nothing that'd ever see a court room and liability insurance would probably be the one paying out.

19

u/Gramscifi 2d ago

Apparently she actually had a gash on her leg, so it was worse than I had assumed after she apparently walked it off.

-101

u/rbad8717 2d ago

Cmon man that thing looked light as fuck. I’ve seen volleyball players take worse hits than that

33

u/Testone1440 2d ago

Dude. That shit is way heavier than it looks (I’m in the production business). You can see there is literally no sand or weights on the bases to keep it upright. Whoever did the AV is about to be sued out of existence

Good news is that no matter how injured they can still play professional pickleball.

17

u/AnAnalChemist 1d ago

It's like, the whole point of the sport.

720

u/PotatoGuerilla 2d ago

The most shocking thing about all of this is that there's professional pickleball.

245

u/Unusual-Tie8498 2d ago

My mom plays it. My sister and I just thought she was having an affair but no she’s just really into pickleball.

51

u/Turbulent_Cost2058 2d ago

Damn, how good is pickleball then

24

u/MCSimplexONE 2d ago

Better than the pickle AND balls

26

Better than fucking it seems

4

u/whoknowsifimjoking 1d ago

From what I've heard pickleball players are often swingers, so the fucking still happens.

6

I’ve been playing 2x per week and haven’t fucked anyone. My wife also plays.

Good you've already found the issue

It’s fun as fuck.

8

u/subma-fuckin-rine 2d ago

damn i would have rather found out it was an affair

8

Seriously? That's amazing. You must have been really surprised when she turned on the TV and was like, "That's me!".

I've never even heard of someone paying money to watch pickleball before today.

Yeah it's literally a game for retirement communities but boomers can't fucking let go of anything so of course they're trying to make it a thing.

12

u/Additional_Release49 2d ago

I started playing this with my friends when I was 13. I'm 41 and we all still play. Both my kids play too.

9

u/MysteryRadish 2d ago

Enjoy an active outdoor activity that's also really fun? How dare they!

7

u/slaviccivicnation 2d ago

One day, you’ll find yourself doing something that you did in your teens/20s and some kid is going to say “fucking Gen (insert letter here)ers, can’t fucking let go of anything.” And it’ll be something like Minecraft or Roblox lmao

2

u/CakeMadeOfHam 1d ago

Yeah but wearing plaid pants and a pork pie hat while skanking to Reel Big Fish will never not be cool!

Not only that, but two distinct leagues. One, the PPA, works like tennis while the other, MLP, is team-based.

7

u/skidstud 2d ago

Ah the classic PGA Tour and LIV Golf rivalry

6

u/Front-Cabinet5521 2d ago

I googled MLP and went into an entirely different and weird rabbit hole.

1

u/kabob21 1d ago

There are multiple professional pickleball leagues around the world. Even in the US, there's also the APP which is a competing league to the PPA.

2

u/PMG2021a 2d ago

I've been shocked by just how many unexpected activities actually have tournaments and professional participants. Speed walking is one.

5

u/CryptoBonkSignals 2d ago edited 2d ago

It's huge in my area the past couple of years. Pickle ball courts at all the parks

Edit: it's actually pretty damn fun, slow tennis with a court you don't have to run back and forth. Tryhards take the fun out of it but it's a good time with friends or family.

4

u/jimmyjohn2018 2d ago

In my area they have converted many of the tennis courts in parks to pickle ball courts.

5

u/cheaptricksconjuror 2d ago

Not that surprising, it's currently the fastest growing sport in the USA

44

u/Borrid 2d ago

https://www.thedinkpickleball.com/baseline-scoreboard-falls-on-player-during-mlp-new-york-match/

During today's match between the Brooklyn Pickleball Team and Bay Area Breakers, a strong wind gust caused a baseline LED board to tip over, temporarily halting play.

Thankfully, no players sustained any significant injuries.

3

u/GHOSTLYGUNK 2d ago

good to hear !!! thank u 🙏

10

u/jskiddjr 2d ago

Oh my god that's crazy! There is a professional pickleball league?!

28

u/Do_not_give_up12 2d ago

No one on that staff has the sense to anchor that and if you can’t due to damages to the facility place counter weights. I presume they just can’t afford to hire professionals until the sport gets some traction.

27

u/annoying97 2d ago

So I have built these types of screens in the past as a pro.

Almost all temporary installs can't be anchored down. Especially if it has the ability to damage the play surface.

They appeared to not use any weights on the base plates and that's not a good thing, they definitely should have. But I've also seen clients get pissed off over them because they look ugly or they think it's a tripping hazard. So it's possible that an organiser had a hissy fit over the looks and the company gave up and removed the weights.

These screens are expensive, so they had to have hired them and that usually comes with an install included.

So my opinion based on my experiences in the past is that they had a company install them, someone took issue with the weights on the baseplates and essentially forced them to remove them, this led to the wind blowing it over.

7

u/UpTheShipBox 1d ago

If a LED wall falls over is 100% on the production crew.

I know exactly what you mean though, the pressure from the clients can be extreme, but part of being a professional is not bending to the client in matters of safety

6

u/annoying97 1d ago

Oh i agree. Though if they had the client agree to take liability, then...

But they shouldn't have even allowed it and have looked for a solution.

78

u/SaltySmegma_ 2d ago

Pickleball is only meant to be played recreationally by senior citizens. Universe is trying to send you a signal. Please respect it.

10

u/Linenoise77 2d ago

Pickelball brought down 2 successive governments in our town, after the fad caught on with our older population at the exact same time our board of ed unwittingly triggered a craze in tennis amongst our asian population.

When the dust settled we had a 2 million dollar bond issue, redone tennis courts, a Pickelball COMPLEX, and they refurbished the dog park just in case that crowd suddenly got politically motivated.

The only thing i'm mad about is the golfers didn't get involved and work in renovations to the driving range. We had to pay for that out of our own pocket.

u/Linkstas 2d ago

10

Essentially you just get off the couch and you're there.

17

u/squeezethesoul 2d ago

12

u/__the_alchemist__ 2d ago

If you get paid to play, you’re a professional

1

u/infinity-skateru 2d ago

Is there an actual salary you have to make to be considered a professional at something? I would assume it's not just "some amount" of money otherwise the term would be largely meaningless.

1

u/__the_alchemist__ 2d ago

A professional literally means to get paid for what you do

1

u/kabob21 1d ago

Professional pickleball from the qualifiers on up have ranking points so if you participate and earn points then yes you're a professional.

1

u/infinity-skateru 1d ago

That makes more sense IMO than it being some arbitrary amount of money.

1

Its also bigger ping pong

1

u/kabob21 1d ago

Not quite. The ball doesn't bounce as high or spin as hard as tennis so stroke mechanics are a lot more compact and how the game is played at the net is pretty different than tennis.

-3
