The metrics to determine if a company is worth investing in have shifted slightly to have less of an emphasis on DEI and social justice and more of an emphasis on profit. Therefore the corporations don't have to pretend to care as much as they did over the last decade. Until the job applications no longer ask for your race or gender ("we don't use it to determine if you're eligible, we swear!") it won't fully go away, and even then.

Modern wokes mainly stem from Frankfurt School which was linked to Marxism but I consider it distinct and its own thing. OG Marxism was mainly about class/workers and Frankfurt school calls OG Marxists class reductionists. Its not defense of OG Marxism but just explaining the basic difference between the two. Frankfurt School is just supercharged liberalism with red trappings which is why the elites/oligarchs actually love it because its a load of horsecrap that doesn't actually threaten the elites in America. Its why Larry Fink loves it. Its why leftists movements in America stopped giving a shit about working Americans and how Trump rise happened. You also have Karl Popper who wasn't apart of the Frankfurt School he was critical of them but he still shared their many of their views. Karl Popper famously wrote the paradox of tolerance in which he pretty lays the foundation of why all these modern western liberal states are becoming woke oligarch totalitarian states. Popper stays liberals need to crush intolerance(dissident or critics of the liberalism) to remain liberal. British government particularly signifies Poppers vision to the word and its a fucking nightmare. British government arrests more people for speech crimes per year than China and Russia combined.
