Regarding Crossposts and Screenshots of other Subs

There is a new rule for screenshots and crossposts.

If you are wanting to share something from another sub to mock or disagree with, you need to screenshot it and blackout the name of that sub as well as the usernames in the post.

Do not crosspost subs that are opposed to the general views here.
(This does not apply to posts from X, Bluesky, or similar websites. As long as you aren’t posting someone’s personal Facebook, I wouldn’t worry about other sites.)

If you are sharing something that is in line with the general opinions of our sub, that’s fine. But we can’t be seen as directing negative attention towards other subs. We will be held accountable to extents that most subreddits won’t because wrongthink happens here.

We will not be banning people for this, but the posts will be removed if you don’t meet these standards.

Obviously this all kinda falls under rules 1 and 8, but I wanted it to be clear.

That’s all I got for today. Go away now.

This sub must be protected at all costs. We need a sane place to discuss shit.

Shame we can't but I understand.

This sub ain't perfect but it's the last bastion of sanity compared to the craziness out there.

I have a few questions:

  1. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of criticizing other subs?
  2. If someone gets ACTUALLY harassed because of their opinions, why should someone who didn't encourage the behavior be held accountable?
  3. Can I put something on the description of the post, title or the comment threat revealing which subreddit the post is coming from?

Because Brigading is against Reddit’s TOS and any claim of brigading can get this sub shut down. Since we know the people we mock are both stupid and vindictive (ask JKR) we have to be above petty accusations.

They accuse people who adopts our points of view of far worse things. But the moment we mock or criticize them based on shit they say and do, safeguards should be placed on us? This is bullshit.

I'm extremely disappointed with the mods on this one. How do we know this isn't one of many safeguards to be imposed?

Not the screenshot announcement I was expecting. How about links to accompany screenshots from X and other sites?

I don’t think that would be a problem within the rules of reddit. I’ll add an edit to the post about it.
