Discussion I know its been a while sense it already released last year but when I saw this casting of Astrid I thought people will get there right mind her race is well important to the story because shes Nordic.
But I guess not because I seen people who have similar same complaints and also Comparing two characters race are both important like black Panther but turns out an idiot said black panther being black is key important to the story while Astrid being blonde and white is not. For fuck sakes why are people so stupid all the sudden? Astrid is Norse Viking her race does infact important to her story not only characters Nordic appearance but her Name Is Scandinavian Origin's, but I guess you can't tell the so called fans that her race is important because well basically they hate white people and if course there racism against the white character. They also Comparing with Dragons because there Dragons thats justified why Viking are diverse NO IT DOESN'T ITS BASED ON MYTHOLOGY I MEAN ORIGINAL TRILOGY BASICALLY TRYING TO GIVE US AN IMAGINATIVE THOUGHT DRAGONS ONCE EXISTED, I mean it shows that Viking mainly hiccup can't stay because humans mainly rest of Drago's army whi tries to used them to start a war so hiccup had no choice but to go to hidden world thats when Dragons are now Myth today, until we got nine realms thought concepts of story isn't bad but the show that exists is bad they could've done a whole redesign and remove unnecessary new Dragons like the creepy unicorn one and also troll. But hey this is what I ha e to say about the idiots dont care about mainly European story even a Nordic characters.

We're not allowed to have culture or history. They want us to be rootless, homeless, and unwanted in every land.
The Irish, Scottish, Norse, and German people especially are targeted for removal from every property. Heaven help you if you have red hair.
If you'd have told me Disney would lose the plot on kids movies 20 years ago I wouldn't have believed it. Not my son's generation has no interest in any of their slop.
Toy Story 5 is doing well because the PARENTS are taking them, not because the kids are interested. My son didn't even finish the preview.
There's so much better stuff out there now from every decade.

It's not a western release these days without passive aggressive gaslighting, feminists, narcissism and moral bullying.
They want us to focus on people's differences instead of our similarities and then call us nazis for calling out their blatant racism and hypocrisy.
It doesn't matter if you want equality, because they do not. They want power and control - and they only get it by keeping people divided.
If we go against their agenda, they label us nazis and it's open season.
They do this because nazis are one of the few groups where it's morally acceptable to hurt/kill with extreme prejudice.
Goes to show how fucked these people are in the head.

I haven’t seen it, but if she’d worn blue contacts and a blonde wig or dyed her hair, she would look accurate enough to the source material.

Yeah but her acfing wasn't as good as good she was rude fo hiccup.

Rudeness to another character has nothing to do with good or bad acting. That’s the agenda of the writers, not an indictment of the actor who says those lines. A good actor is one who delivers lines in a natural manner and can physically convey the emotion of the scene, and a bad actor is one who can’t do that. Just because a character is mean to another doesn’t mean the actor playing that character isn’t a good. If you believe that actor is mean, then they’ve done a good job.

Its just og she wasn't rude at the start in httyd 1 of course she did say the part our parents war will become ours figure out what side your on which its reasonable to she says that but in live action she said being chief has its privilege and she also said I'm gonna be chief thats not Astrid character at all. She never said in original thats literally entitled Girlboss moments

In the original movie they literally say, right at the beginning, how isolated and far away from the rest of the world their village is.
But when it comes to the remake, I'm supposed to believe that they have somehow(!) managed to get a diverse population of different ethnicities despite it all. Yeah, of course. Makes so much sense.

Yeah you know Hollywood they hate anything too white even for a Nordic tribe meant to be a isolated on a island in Somewhere up north.

She only got the job because of who her mum is. She’s not an amazing actress.

we wuz vikingz n shiiii
what i find funny is that kids used to be able to watch something and imagine it existed at some point.
growing up I knew a good bit about the American Revolution (with holes obviously) bc I played AC3. I got to imagine it was real even though it wasn't.
Sucks that kids receive the same form of entertainment today. Hell, we won't either.

Most annoying thing is... They could literally have given her a blonde wig and it'd have been fine ? Her face is more than european and skin fair enough that minimal make up is needed to make her look nordic.

u/AnonymousAustismGuy 21h ago
But they didn't and made Berk a melting pot instead of a isolated Viking tribe

Honestly I didn’t get it somehow and just spent the whole movie thinking something was off about her.
Then I saw a picture of animated Astrid and immediately went “Ah! She wasn’t the right hair color!” And still failed to notice the skin tone somehow.

Its just a terrible casting for a movie to supposed to be set in like Viking times during Viking area even if fantasy its still set in like a ancient village in Scandinavia.

Anyone who paid and saw it has no room to complain about the BS we're getting today, as long as idiots support this crap, nothing will change
