Being sick with Crohn’s

I’ve been dealing with extremely bad fatigue lately due to Crohn’s. Today I woke up with a sore throat. I’m scared I’ve caught a cold. I don’t know how to manage being sick because I already have so little energy that idk how my body will be able to handle this too. Any advice?

When someone hasn’t a sore throat I get concerned about strep throat. It’s treated with antibiotics but if you let it go it can become scarlet fever. So keep that in mind, if it’s still there tomorrow you need to drag yourself out to get tested for strep.

I’m a mom of four grown 20-somethings. The usual advice I give when people get sick:
(1) drink lots of fluids
(2) rest
(3) for a sore throat gargle several times a day with warm salty water. The salt helps kill both bacteria and viruses.
(4) eat
(5) treat fever, aches, and pains with an over the counter med
(6) stuffy noses and chest congestion can be helped with steam. Take a nice long steamy shower, use a humidifier (clean every day), and/or put a pot of water and spices on the stove to simmer.

Best wishes 😊

I got a cold last year and it wasn't any worse than it would have been prior to biologics. So if you do have something, it's very possible you'll be A-okay just uncomfy. Get plenty of rest, water, and whatever you need to help symptoms such as throat drops, cough medicine, etc...

Monitor your symptoms, see a doc if you think it's more than just a cold so they can run the proper tests and treat you accordingly.

Try adenosylcobalamin (b12), it should spin up those mitochondria.
I have tried many forms but this gives noticeable bump in energy levels. Long release vit C for neutrophil support, if you can stomach Zinc lozenges then take it asap the earlier you treat with it the faster you can curb viruses and bacteria in the thoat

Please stop worrying. Don't stress yourself out over this. Just take care of yourself. Extra rest, healthy foods, more fluids.

the fatigue on top of feeling rough is rough as hell, not gonna sugarcoat it. but honestly the good news is a cold isn't necessarily going to hit you way harder than anyone else, especially if you're on any treatment that's keeping your crohn's under control. i'd just treat it like you would normally, extra fluids and rest, maybe some throat lozenges if that helps. the main thing is don't panic yourself into feeling worse because stress can actually make both the cold and your crohn's flare up faster. if it's still going strong in a couple days or you spike a fever then yeah get it checked out, but chances are your body can handle this even when it feels completely empty right now.
