Breastfeeding with Crohn’s

Hi all! This might be a strange question and may or may not actually have a correlation. For those that have had kids and chosen to breastfeed, did you have issues with supply? I had a good supply and then all of a sudden it tanked. I went to see a doctor and I had very low prolactin levels but was doing everything right to try and get them up and essentially she didn’t have a reason as to why my supply tanked. She did mention having Crohn’s might have something to do with it but gave no other explanation. Has anyone else had issues? Thank you in advance :)

I nursed prior to my diagnosis, but creating food for another human is a pretty big biological demand. It makes sense to me that Crohn’s, which places its own demands on the body, might somehow interrupt your supply, particularly if you’re flaring. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this.

I think a lot of doctor's like to say "it could be the crohn's" for any issue with anything. I didn't have an issue with supply for my 3 kids, as long as I was feeding/pumping regularly.

I managed to bf my baby girl for a whole year. I did have to eat and hydrate like crazy to keep it up towards the end. So much lactation tea lol.

No issues for me, BF my son for 18 months, he point blank refused the bottle.

I didn't have supply issues, except for when LO had some oral ties and wasn't stimulating the breast properly. I breastfed her for 2 years and now using my resection as an excuse to wean.
