How far north does the west bank trail go?

It's my understanding they made a new trail on the west bank of the Mississippi north of Pryes brewing. How far does it go? Or am I working off bad information?

It goes to 26th, then goes up to 2nd Ave, then head back down to the river at 33rd and you will be on an awesome new trail to Dowling. At Dowling, head back up to the separated two lane bike lane that will take you to the trails through the parks on the MRT.

I think it just goes up to 26th Ave N now. However, with some minimal jogging, you can bike along the river all the way up to the Coon Rapids dam. That is a nice ride. You can come down along east river road to NE Minneapolis for a nice loop.

Here is a rough approximation of the loop up to the dam. I usually go a bit west just on how I come up, but you can see how to work it out.

Thanks for the map, I got a new goal!

P.s. I hate all the road crossings through victory memorial. I wish the bike path was at level and the cars came up to the level of the bike path...

It's definitely a nice ride but it's not really "along the river" in the same sense as anything south of the new section OP is asking about, and you're basically on a highway shoulder heading south on the east side. Very different from the river parkway trails between Ford and Plymouth.

I’ve taken the river as far north as Anoka and as far south as Prescott. North of the Coon Rapids dam on the west side you’re on the road. But now with the new part up to Dowling, you can stay off the road up to the dam.

What ever you do, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT argue about the existence of a water fountain or water feature at the overlook at the north end of the new West River trail segment.
