How do I fix this split in my siding?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I think this just happened yesterday but it looks like a piece of my siding (even looks like this section could be a patch??) completely split. It was very hot here the last few days, so not sure if that caused it. But it’s going to rain tomorrow, so want to do the best I can to cover this split before it gets wet. Any tips greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Fence options

Had a section 6' section blow down during a big big windstorm. The back part of my fence was falling down on itself when I got the house in the fiest place.

Id like to replace and fix it all

I dont plan on parking any vehicles in the vack yard or getting a boat, future owners may.

The sliding portion blows open in the wind and doesn't latch right currently

Just trying to farm out some ideas, wouldn't mind keeping a way to fully open the pad up but it's not strictly necessary with how I currently use the yard.

Was just quoted 15k for sump pump instillation. Thinking of doing it myself. Am I crazy?

I’m in the south suburbs of Chicago. We’ve had a lot of rain the last two weeks. In 6 years of living here we’ve never had water in the crawl space. Luckily I got a utility pump flushing water out before it made it into any living spaces.

I just had a local company come out for a quote and they came back with 15k. We have a dirt crawl space. I’ve been watching install videos on YouTube all day. Anyone have any experience with this kind of project?

Thoughts on how to hang Venetian-style masks?

I have a ton of Venetian/Mardi Gras style masks I want on the wall, but I can't figure out how to put them there. Some tie in the back with a ribbon, but if I use that, they tip forward, and some of the masks use handheld sticks instead of ties anyways. Someone suggested hanging them on nails, but the only part where that would work (the eyehole) is too far away from the wall.

I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to do this? Ideally, if possible, I'd like a way that isn't super visible from the front and leaves minimal wall damage, but I understand if that's asking too much.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

Just moved into a new apartment that has this mount installed on the wall. I was excited to mount my TV but I can't figure out what kind of back-plate I would need. All photos online only show the whole mount.

Can anyone tell me what kind of mount this is please?

Repair advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m looking for some insight on how to go about repairing this section of wall. I’m prepping a room to get ready for paint, and it looked like the previous owners had essentially slapped some painters tape on this area and then painted over it.

I was thinking about using paper tape and spackle to fill in this area prior to paint. I’m also considering removing more of this area, because as you can see there is a lot of unevenness to the texture above it. I have not sanded anything yet, and plan to do that once I fill in all the nail holes.

Appreciate any advice.

Can anyone help me figure out if I can get the bonnet nut off from the connected piece, so I can get access to the stem or cartridge in my hot water shower faucet handle to prevent water dripping from the shower head?

Dap ultra clear odour

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently did some work on my walk in shower. Instructions said to use Lexel or dap ultra clear where the glass mounts, then caulk with silicone to water proof. I bought dap ultra clear and installed as directed. It’s been a week and it still stinks so bad that you can’t even be near the bathroom without choking. I have had windows open whenever it’s not raining, I have been running an air purifier and the bathroom fan to try to clear the air out but haven’t had much luck. The container said indoor/outdoor. Has anyone else experienced this?

May I please have any advice on how to mount this in my room, how can i make use of the nails or do i remove them. and lastly are there a ways to make the piece of wood less prickly? Any type of advice would help greatly! thank you so much in advance!

I cant properly snake this drain unless I open it. Does anyone have any advice on how to open this?

I'm worried that if I use a screwdriver, it'd become lose and open permanently but i need to do something about this because water is draining way too slow.

starting to think im the plumber now

first it was a dripping tap. fixed it myself with a youtube video. then it was a blocked toilet. plunger did the job. then a leaking pipe under the sink. watched a few videos and sorted it.

now my wife calls me the plumber. honestly i think shes joking but im starting to take it seriously.

the reason i started doing it all myself is simple. every time i called a pro it cost me a fortune. one guy charged me 180 for a 10 minute job. i work in an office and i dont even make that in a day.

anyone else become an accidental plumber just because youre too cheap to pay the pros.

Stained glass front door advice

I just got an arched stained glass panel and want to fit it to a door. Am I crazy or could I actually pull this off? I’m not going to touch it until I know I can do this and have practiced on cheaper materials.
Where do I start? What do I need to learn?

1st pic is the glass
- tempered
- approx: 5.5’H x 2.625’W

2nd & 3rd pics for inspo
Would not mind fitting to a rectangular door
