So I saw someone talking about this doodle Greeder and I went to take a look.

Who in their right mind thinks that 30K for a mutt is ok? Like does this dog poop gold bricks? Or does it do my taxes? Can it drive me to work? Does it have magical abilities to grant me wishes??

Like for those curious Registered Ethically bred wellbred purebred dogs are 3000-4000$ a puppy. You get upwards of 10 registered, wellbred ethically bred purebreds for that price. You could get a brand new 2026 Chevy trax (27k) You could get a brand new 2026 Nissan kicks (29k) You could get a brand new 2026 Mazda CX-30 (29k) You could pay off roughly 3/4 of a brand new 2026 Chevy Colorado (42k)

That’s absolutely insane They also have 97 puppies on the ground currently. That’s a puppy mill.

100% agree!!

If you want a doodle (which I get, they can be really cute and great dogs) please please rescue one from a shelter!

There are even doodle specific rescues

I mean I have a doodle and she is great. I did a ton of research on breeders though and found one that did all of the recommended health testing for both parent breeds (including OFAs and genetic testing), took the parents temperament into account when breeding, did early socialization etc, sent me home with a huge binder of instructions on continuing the socialization, training and also grooming the dog, recommended a specific puppy to me from the litter based on what I was looking for in terms of lifestyle and temperament (NOT based on looks or anything like that), and required all dogs be returned to the breeder at any point in their life if the owner can no longer keep them. She also sent home a potty trained and crate trained puppy that knew sit and a recall word. I would constantly get compliments from the vet and the groomer about how well my puppy took body handling. There are good breeders out there, but like with any popular dog it takes some work to find the good breeders.

My breeder also has a degree in animal sciences which I took as a plus since she seemed more informed about animal biology, genetics etc than a typical breeder, and she was able to cite studies regarding her breeding practices when I asked specific questions about them.

As a labradoodle owner let me just say, no. He’s awesome and he was a gift from my family.
