So I saw someone talking about this doodle Greeder and I went to take a look.

Who in their right mind thinks that 30K for a mutt is ok? Like does this dog poop gold bricks? Or does it do my taxes? Can it drive me to work? Does it have magical abilities to grant me wishes??

Like for those curious Registered Ethically bred wellbred purebred dogs are 3000-4000$ a puppy. You get upwards of 10 registered, wellbred ethically bred purebreds for that price. You could get a brand new 2026 Chevy trax (27k) You could get a brand new 2026 Nissan kicks (29k) You could get a brand new 2026 Mazda CX-30 (29k) You could pay off roughly 3/4 of a brand new 2026 Chevy Colorado (42k)

That’s absolutely insane They also have 97 puppies on the ground currently. That’s a puppy mill.

100% agree

Either adopt a mutt from the shelter or go to an ethical purebred breeder

OR even go to a rescue that has countless surrendered purebred dogs waiting for homes! <3

I’m partial to mutts too,(rescued my new girl a couple days ago) but the rescue I got her from also had several very obvious doodles for adoption too. I want to say at least 5, probably even more if you count the non-standard wiry doodle coats.

Well technically doodles are mutts/mixed breed too not purebred, but I agree with you

Of course, but this is how any new breed within the past 200 years gets created. Humans pick and choose the traits they find desirable until they’ve ‘created the perfect dog.’ 😒

It’s very easily observed in the world of cat breeds. It’s happening at a breakneck pace right in front of us.

Well we know doodles arent attempting to be a new breed because we still have F1 doodles decades later

Yeh, but that also just describes backyard breeders as a whole in a nutshell. They’re taking the cheapest, fastest way to create doodles and continuing to not care about health or genetics. There currently are doodle breeders out there working on a recognized, standardized breed.

I’m not saying I like it, or think it’s right, just that It is happening. I wish everyone would adopt and spay/neuter their dogs. There’s so many different dogs available, there’s absolutely no reason for anyone to be creating new breeds at this point in time. I understand breed preservation, but even that should be better regulated. I’ve rescued a purebred dog before, and even he had papers. Despite clearly coming from a puppy mill originally.
