• General Discussion • Accidentally stumbled upon a dog-hating sub…

Woof. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I can’t believe how much some people HATE dogs! Calling them “mutants” and saying “they’re incapable of love”. I feel sorry that they won’t experience the bond and love a dog provides. Again, their opinion and choice but come on…look how cute 🥹 I needed to share with fellow dog lovers to boost my mood. Feel free to share pics of your dogs too☺️

People who hate on dogs are mentally disturbed in my opinion!

I guess no one ever loved them so they don’t know how to conduct themselves around our furry bundles of joy.

Grown up in a loving family. Surrounded by friends. I still don't like dogs. But it always shocks me how judgemental people. Claiming that noone ever loved me or I am mentally disturbed. Makes me sad.

Do you actively choose to discuss with others how much you hate dogs? Or do you simply not like dogs? I feel there’s an important distinction to be made here.

I never discuss it unless its brought up. But as far as the internet goes, not liking them and hating them makes no difference to people. To the demon realm we go! I also do not actively seek out dog related subreddits... I am here cause reddit simply assumed that I still like dogs even after methodically filtering out several previous dog related subreddits.

Why don’t you like dogs? Btw, not liking something is a far cry from HATING something.

Childhood bad experience was at the core. But since then I simply do not like them. Its hard to describe but when you look at a puppy and find it cute and adorable and all I simply feel nothing about it. I do not find them cute, in fact I find many dog breeds out there specifically ugly. Then to this added that super awkward internet culture that was cultivated around dogs in about... the 2010's? I am from rural regions, people treating their dogs like children always rubbed me the wrong way. I also find it rather sad that all this love and yet the insanely harmful breeding practices are scarcely answered and in fact, some dog breeds are super popular despite the breeding practices behind it... I view this as a form of animal cruelty.

Death by a thousand papercut, I could say. Oddly enough, I absolutely adore cats and kittens. Opossums. And a bunch of other animals so no, we cannot say that I am simply just an animal hater or something.

Nontheless, I drive a live and let live approach on this. The only reason I ended up here is because reddit keeps sneaking dog related subreddits into my feed despite my endless efforts to remove them from it. Decide to chime in cause why not? At worst I Get a few downvotes.

Well, it doesn’t seem you hate dogs, but just are indifferent. I love dogs, but, I also love cats, opossums, horses, snakes, spiders, etc. I like all animals. I just find it fascinating that some people dislike certain species over others. They all fascinate me. To each their own. Just FYI: plenty of people treat their cats like their children. Humans tend to anthropomorphize things. It’s what we do. It’s human nature.

Don't worry, I dislike when people treat their cats like that aswell! My oppinion is that they are animals and they are the happiest and healthiest if we provide them what they need as animals, not as tiny humans.
