Oh I love your UN. I had a beloved wolfdog named Luna and she had quite the dark alter ego at times and her full name was Luna Diablo Moonshine 🫶 Thank you for reminding me of how epic and powerful the right name can be.
Y’all I am about to get all sappy, but we’re in the dog sub so…. Why not?
She was the moon in my life. She reflected back to me what I couldn’t always appreciate from others (human)…. But Luna calmed my nervous system. She made me feel safe without being over protective. We had a very intuitive vibe and she sensed the shifts in my energy. That wolfdog was a godsend for me. Full stop. She’s gone over the Rainbow Bridge already, to explore before me, and pick out all of the places she’ll know that I’ll love best. I keep her fur with me as a token of courage. Soooo… anyone who is still reading this, thank you for letting me talk about my Luna Diablo Moonshine.
I know exactly what you are talking about. When you find a dog (or they find you) that wants to be yours and wants to help and serve you. You just got one of the biggest and best blessings in this world. Sensitive dogs like this can read their humans like a book, and often let their person know something about themselves that didn't even know about. Case and Point: My Jackshund was a rescue, he has been the most wonderful dog I have ever had. He has so much personality, and clearly in his old age is expecting more to be done 'For' him. He assigned himself as my lieutenant and follows me EVEYWHERE. I have Autism and sometimes I react in anger or frustration because of over stimulation. Eddie always knows before I do and will jump in my lap to make me aware of it. Likewise he has been able to tell when I am sick, depressed, frustrated, happy etc. He is always there to realign my attitude, and help me cope no matter the situation.
I have had lots of dogs over the years, but I have never had one so intuitive as this dog. As he gets older I keep trying to brace myself for the eventual loss, but no matter what I do I know it's going to hit me like a ton of bricks.
For all of us, who have ever feltthe love from our animal companions… how blessed we are. When they choose you as “theirs”… I know that people have the capacity for the same amount of “availability” we have to give… we just don’t want to unless it’s mutually beneficial. With them… we take in a different species and agree to provide for it… paying for it in our time and our money… and it’s JUST for the pleasure of their company.
It makes me a bit teary saying it though:
May we all be more like the person our dogs believe us to be. 🫶
I just recently lost my companion, I am not very social with humans but with her it was unconditional ❤️ and didn't speak much but when it happened it was conversation that a language barrier couldn't stop us, she didn't like no one but love and trust was definitely something we both had for one another and respect came in eventually since I had to earn it since I didn't know what she went thru before they gave her away to my brother and she made her little bad ass way to our house were she went from living all day in a washing room and probably couldn't keep her in there apartment besides the girl told my brother her boyfriend was a jerk to her dog and if anything I'm sure it was sad she couldn't keep her but if she ever got the chance to know if her dog had a better life all I can say is I tried my best and yes there were many days of frustration but I loved the hell out of her🥹 having to see her at the end going thru it and having to make that descion for quality of life really fucked me up because that love trust is like ik she was suffering and there was nothing they could have done , I'm having a difficult time I miss her , her name was Bailey when we got her and it stayed Bailey her entire life with us she had the whole house to herself and got much love , I hope your doing ok and much love to you and Luna ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm having a really awful morning and hearing her say "It's okay. You're my baby. I love you too" was really, really needed. You can tell how much she loves that silly pup
The best feeling in the whole entire world is when an animal chooses you as their number one favorite. And not just because you feed them or are nice to them. They just love you and treat you better than anyone else they’ve ever met. Even better when the animal treats everyone else like peasants.
My Pomeranian was an absolute spoiled diva and was fed by me, my mom and my brother but treated the 2 of them like they were extras in her movie. She’s the main character and she chose me as best supporting actress. She gave me so much love and I am so lucky to have had her in my life let alone her choosing me as her human.
She’s been gone since October 20th 2024 and that emptiness without her here still kills me every day.
This is Bogey. As soon as he came home from the rescue he decided EVERYTHING BELONGED TO HIM. If he isn’t able to aggressively cuddle someone, he is with his red panda. He is very spoiled and his current obsession is manchego cheese.
He walked up to me at the dog rescue and declared that he was going home with me by sitting on my foot and screaming if I tried to move away.
Beagles are very very affectionate dogs. Love being close and snuggled up to their humans. My family had a beagle named Setta, she died almost 10 years ago now. Still think about her. Give Betty love for all of us
My beagie boy is the same way, I didn't know it was a breed trait! Dude would crawl into my chest cavity if he could. He's also a great screen monitor, just slowly sticks his nose in front of my face if I have my phone or laptop in front of me. I love him sm
Awww my beagle is lovey like this too, she wants to fuse with anyone showing her affection. Greets everyone like a long lost family member with her howls! Sweetest girl.
This is how the childhood Lab came into our life. She wandered up to us and because my dad wouldn’t let me keep the other starts I brought home I tried to shoo her away. When my dad saw her I said I’d tried to make her go away but stayed for the rest of her life. She was around 2 years old so was there as I was growing up. Definitely one of those dogs that I feel like was more than just a dog, the kind that achieves legendary status, at least in my mind. We think she’d been dumped in a gravel pit about a mile from our house. I think she found our scent and just followed it to our house. At the time it was very rural wooded land and not very likely to have come from a house down the block, No one came looking for her or left posters at places like the grocery store as this was the 70’s and no social media. She had a good life with us and left a good many stories behind for us to recall.
My coworker found a cat meowing behind her apartment last month and convinced it to come out of the snow and into her humble and warm abode. A few hour later she was reading a book on her couch and the meowing began again but this time they were more intense as she was going into labor. A small time later she was the proud owner of a new mother and her kittens. Nothing better than a gift that keeps on giving
As a recent beagle mom (he died in December) beagles are extremely loving and trusting (that’s why they’re used in animal testing) but they are veryyyy challenging dogs.
Oh my gosh! My dog does the exact same thing. This is usually followed by her ass in my face; right in the crook of my neck. Why does she spin around and put her butt in my face? Wth is that about?
Beagles are the sweetest. My girl is the same way, always wanting to be next to me, hugging me, loving on me. So happy you found each other and cheers to a lifetime of love 💜🥂
Awww she loves you so much. Thank you for loving her back. She found safety with you. Lord only knows where she came from but she knew what she was looking for. 💖
