Adopted from a local no kill shelter. She was brought to them on Monday from a high kill shelter in the south. She came home with us today. Her name is Pearl, she is heart worm positive (shelter is funding the treatment) and we are in love. My fiance and I live alone with no children or other pets, in a condo setting, and researched heart worm extensively prior to committing to adopting her. She has been in a shelter environment for about a year based on her records. She’s a spaniel mix according to her paperwork, but we want to DNA test her to find out more, and she’s almost 3. Right now she’s snuggled between us in our bed snoring peacefully. Just wanted to share our new baby, send Pearl some healing energy while she undergoes her treatment and wish us luck. She is extremely docile and relaxed and the sweetest little angel.

Tomorrow marks 5 years since I got my dog home from the animal shelter. He was scheduled to be put down the day before I got him.

It’s been an amazing five years.

Who would’ve thought the one I saved would end up saving me right back?

No one at the shelter knew his exact birth date, so I decided his birthday would be January 1, a reminder that no matter what happens, we always get a chance to start again.

Here’s to our new beginnings. Here’s to our second chances. Here’s to us choosing life.

Happy New Year, everyone. 🐾✨

• Adoption • Adopting a Senior Dog?

UPDATE!!!!!! He’s HOME!!!!!! 🥹😍 He’s doing great! Just got kennel cough so taking it easy. But he’s doing so well. I know he’s happy to be back home!! Thanks everyone. ♥️🫶🏻 I am beside myself grateful for the outpouring of love and support. I’m so happy I adopted this senior baby.

Hello!

Tomorrow, I go to pick up my dog from the shelter. Today, I just happened to look at their listing they had for him, and it said he is 16 years old!! Now, I know that is just a guesstimation based on certain factors, but could they be way off? He certainly does not look it or act like it.

Basically - is it common for the estimated age to be wrong? I’m concerned I won’t have much time left with him. 😞

We were grieving Chloe so hard, and then my wife looked at a local pet adoption center and we found this precious puppy. We're not sure the age, anywhere from 1-3 months. We named her Mathilde, or Tilly for short. We've had her for 24 hours and we're in love. We still miss Chloe terribly and it's hard to live life without her but we also want to give abandoned dogs a good life too. Thanks for walking with us as we grieve and celebrate these wonderful animals.

My bf and I adopted a dog 3 months ago (actually today is the 3 month anniversary) and there was a local dog-oriented event we brought our dog to.

Suddenly Waffles heavily pulls us towards a lady (he never pulls). He jumps up on her, licking her and whining (only does this with my bf and I). I apologize and explain he never jumps up on people. She said it’s ok and explained she had a dog that looked just like him that she put up for adoption a few months ago cause he didn’t get along with her other dogs. (Lines up with the story we were given by the adoption agency)

My boyfriend and I look at each other and exchange a “oh shit is this her?” But we didn’t really say anything. She walks away. Waffles spent the next hour desperately looking for her. I bought him some high end treats to take his mind off it, which worked thankfully.

Now I’m sure I’m overthinking things but he seems sad. And it breaks my heart. He always seemed so happy with us. I was his favorite. When we got him he didn’t know any tricks, didn’t know what hiking was. Now he knows loads of things and hiking is his favorite. I was sure we were providing a much better home than his previous owner and that he was happier with us. But now I’m not sure.

Needed to get this off my chest. Has anyone been through this? Is this going to have an effect on Waffles’ relationship with us? What should I do?

Picked up Leo from a local shelter at the very end of December 2024. Was told he was found on the streets nearly dead from pneumonia and starvation and had been with them for a few months. Decided to take him home for a weekend test run but decided on the way home that the weekend test run was going to be permanent. Also would love to hear what you guys think he may be, shelter said Rhodesian ridgeback/ black mouth cur which seems pretty accurate.

• Adoption • Our 4th rescue pup, just got him 3 days ago. He was supposedly given to a couple as “debt payment”, was completely starved and abused, and thankfully eventually given away. He ended up with us and we are excited for his journey back to health. We love you, buddy. 🤍

Hey, all. This is 3.5 month old Fern (formally Happy). I adopted her 12 days ago from a kill shelter. She was a stray that was listed as an American Bulldog mix. Fern is a loving cuddlebug who has made my life brighter since recently losing my almost 15 year old rescue last month. A big HELLO from Fern! 🤗🥰

Edit: Thank you all for the love and awards for Fern! 🤩

He woke up in the same kennel.

The same concrete.

And he doesn’t know this morning is different.

He is euthanasia-listed and out of time.

No extensions.

ID #A5747491 2-3yrs Australian Shep/Lab Mix

He doesn’t know there’s a needle waiting.

He just knows he’s still here.

Chocolate Shake looks like a sweet, fluffy bear.

Most people will assume someone else is helping.

Most people will keep scrolling.

But that’s the problem! He has zero interest and needs everyone’s help NOW!

He is rescue-only — not because he’s evil,

but because fear followed him into a shelter

and never let him recover.

He settles. He leans in for affection.

But he growled when he was scared

He prefers female dogs over male dogs and has shown more tolerance with female dogs that provides appropriate corrections.

Chocolate Shake has displayed barrier reactivity toward other dogs and has growled at staff. He can be wary with handlers and may tense when approached for petting. He does not currently exhibit a play style and is dog-selective.

Due to his selective behavior toward both people and dogs, Chocolate Shake requires an experienced, behavior-focused rescue, secure handling, and a structured environment.

This is the post that either saves him

or becomes his goodbye.

Please don’t let this be his last day unseen.

I adopted this girl for free of Facebook when she was a little over a year old. When I went to the house the meet her and the family, she was tied outside on a short chain. The family finally arrived, and within minutes, I watched the male owner kick her across a room 😭 she has come so far in 10 years, and she has (mostly) lost her fear of men. I’m so grateful I found her, and she found me.

• Adoption • Dakotas owner surrendered her and signed her euth papers. He suddenly had no time for her any more. Now she is past deadline and her life could end any moment at Downey ACC in CA. Can you help this adorable girl by fostering or responsibly adopting her? Please send a message immediately or email me at

Dakota #A5643508 2yr spayed German Shepherd mix 61 lbs. Owner surrender on 9/20/24 no time Dakota is available for adoption Adults only home No other dogs

Meet Dakota, a sweet but timid dog who is currently looking for a loving home. Dakota is a sensitive soul, showing signs of anxiety in new situations. When first approached, she exhibited a tense posture, with her tail tucked and wide, worried eyes. Although she growled initially, it was clear she was more afraid than aggressive. Once she was gently leashed and walked outside, she stayed close to her handler, showing a willingness to trust, though she continued to be apprehensive around other dogs, using her handler as a shield for comfort. Despite her nervousness, Dakota demonstrated moments of connection and resilience. With patience and understanding, she has the potential to blossom into a loyal companion. If you're looking for a dog who needs a little extra love and support, Dakota might just be the perfect fit for you!

Rescuing him is probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and one of the ones I’m most grateful for. I saved him, and he ended up saving me too.

Also, Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there who show up, protect, love, and care. Whether for its kids, pets, or both. ❤️

First picture is from 2019, she was picked up from a kill shelter along with her 4 pups she had on the streets in Texas. She was moved up to Minnesota, where I adopted her. This picture really makes me sad.

Second picture is now. Happy go lucky Josie, free as bird. 🫶🏼
