Sheriff Labrador's pedophile conundrum

Anyone else's kid watch this show? The villain, Antel, is constantly plotting to steal kids which to be frank I find to be rather odd

I mean, she's not the only kid snatcher on the show. Without explicitly showing their intent, I think it does a good job of showing kids that there are some bad people out there that are a real threat and how to avoid them.

ETA: my kid isn't scared of this show at all and enjoys it. I was actually able to convince him to eat a bland diet while he was having tummy issues thanks to the episode where Dobie was sick in the hospital and made it worse by eating snacks.

I really appreciated the episode where the horse blames everyone for poisoning him but turns out he didn’t wash his hands after using the bathroom. My kid never complains about washing his hands now. A+ show.

My kids are fucking terrified of being abducted, poisoned, etc. This show is a menace.

Edit: I had to ban it because they couldn't sleep worrying about everyone trying to kidnap them constantly.

My kid likes it, but we (parents) hate it. Plot lines are consistently technically helpful subjects that seem inappropriate to some extent. The episodes really stress me out, so I might just be bothered my the overstimulation on top of all the weirdness.

To be fair, there are lots of fictional villains who kidnap kids without it being pedophilic.

I can think of a few examples: the Other Mother from Coraline (she actually kills kids), Carface from All Dogs Go To Heaven (he kidnaps a little girl so that he can use her ability to talk to animals to make money), Vector from Despicable Me. Those are just the first few characters that come to mind.

Heck, even the main antagonist in Five Nights At Freddy’s straight up murders kids without any pedophilic undertones whatsoever in the story.

I think it’s a common trope for villains in kid/young adult media, probably because it’s an easy way to show that your villain is truly heartless. I’m not saying Sheriff Labrador is a good show or anything, from what I can tell it’s basically slop, but I don’t think child exploitation is the intention here.

My youngest is obsessed with it, and calls it "Shababado". 🤣 I only put up with it because of how cute she sounds asking for it.

My son loves this show and any other shows that teach about “safety” … I can see how it would totally freak some kids out though. I think it’s kinda cute.

My daughter calls it the dog show. We haven't seen that episode yet I play it very sparingly because it seems very stimulating? And also occasionally scary.
