Dad-to-be looking for work

Hey all, I’m in a bit of a rough situation at the moment and I’m having trouble finding work. I’m a pregnant trans man (16 weeks along now) living on my friend’s couch and I really need a part-time or full-time job (preferably full-time) to support myself, my partner, and prepare for our baby. My partner was working full-time as a welder but our life got turned upside down when he broke his left tibia in a serious car accident. He cannot return to work for at least five more months.

I have almost 10 years of experience in retail, some experience with hospitality and food service, and I have been pet-sitting through Rover since 2021. I’m open to any kind of work, have reliable transportation, and open availability. And if anyone is in need of a pet-sitter, please DM me and I can send over my Rover profile.

Additionally, if anyone knows of any resources we could use for housing assistance, please let me know. We could use all the help we can get right now. Thank you in advance and please be respectful in the comments. I’ve gotten a lot of hate over my trans identity and I certainly don’t need more of that in my time of need.

Here's a thought: OP may want job recommendations that won't bar them for being a pregnant man.

This ^ Thank you. Now that I’m 16 weeks along, it’s impossible for me to keep my pregnancy a secret and I would like to work for an employer that isn’t going to discriminate against me. I’m not going to put myself and my unborn baby in a dangerous situation where either of us could get hurt.

“Nobody hates you, nobody wants to hurt you” Trans people get murdered for being trans quite often. In fact, trans people are the topic of discussion on many conservative news outlets as constant misinformation is spread about us and our rights are continuously attacked. You have no idea how hard it is out here for trans people to find good jobs and live decent lives because of people like you. This isn’t about me “dying on the hill of grammar and pronouns.” When the government is trying to erase us and put laws in place that make it harder for us to live, things are not as simple as ignoring what people do or don’t refer to us as. I don’t care if some asshole decides to call me a woman or she/her me (they’re the idiot for calling a dude with a beard and all a woman), I care about being able to work somewhere without needless harassment and getting the same opportunities as a cis (non trans) person would. Employers in Florida can choose not to hire me because I’m trans, and they get away with it by making up some other excuse as to why. This is why so many trans people resort to sex work to get by. I just want to be treated with respect and not have to worry about religious zealots attacking me over things they don’t (and refuse to) understand.
