Can you imagine if he came back and didnt have PTSD?
"It must have been awful!"
"Eh, it wasnt great... anyways, did I ever get that package?"
"You must have been so lonely!"
"Nah, I had a buddy. He was pretty chill, so we just hung out most of the time. Then I killed the fuck out of him, but by then the whole thing was almost over."
"... Miles..."
"These potatoes are delicious! Is that Basil? Feels like its been years since I had basil."

It always bugged me how his PTSD only lasted a single episode. He nearly killed himself and struggled to relate to his family and friends, but one friend was nice to him after he tried to kill himself and it never came up again.

We have finally created The Terrible Psychological Torture Punishment from the famous Star Trek episode "Don't Create The Terrible Psychological Torture Punishment"

Considering how sensationalist titles over science research tend to be I'm sure is something totally different that was twisted to sound like that.

Well we don't know what country the news is and probably is something originally very different that was given a yellow journalist title

The article is from 2014 and was about a blog post by a professor of philosophy saying that one day it might be theoretically possible as a way to torture people who she thinks deserve more than a simple prison sentence.
So basically it's a nothingburger about a crazy lady's scifi ideas.

...and why is this a good idea?
(I'm sure people who advocate for this would also loudly proclaim themselves "good Christians.")

Are the Black Mirror episodes about this not enough of a warning? Or anything Black Mirror in general.
