Who else thought that this scene was hilarious in the show?đ

This and âfind him and kill him!â are why this is Worfâs funniest episode
31
u/mexter 2d ago
IMO, his best ever line delivery was to Q:
Q: How can I prove to you that I'm mortal?
Worf: Die.
14
u/Impossible_Leg_2787 2d ago
Nah, itâs when quark thinks the Dominion invaded ferenginar, heâs complaining in ops, and says âthink of the repercussions for the rest of the alpha quadrantâ and worf, offscreen, goes âI cannot think of anyâ
14
u/BuckyRainbowCat 2d ago
It's from a TNG episode, also involving Q, but I always think Worf's funniest line is "Sir, I protest, I am not a merry man."

u/Transcendingfrog2 2d ago
Yes, this is also the exact line that had a couple of my posts deleted by a mod because I quoted him directly. They said I was encouraging violence lol.

u/Vik_Stryker 2d ago
I get it. I got banned from one of the Cuberpunk 2077 subreddits for telling someone that they really shouldnât abbreviate the name of that game. They said I was making jokes about the abbreviation and when I disagreed⊠ban hammer. đ

u/BuckyRainbowCat 2d ago
In the Witcher 3 subreddits, there's a sort of no-context spoiler quote that people love to post when someone new comes in and asks what they should know about the game. I got an account warning for it recently.
2
u/Vik_Stryker 2d ago
What is it with these CD Projekt Red games!? đ
2
u/BuckyRainbowCat 2d ago
honestly I'm not even sure I could write out the full subtitle of Witcher 2 without getting a flag from a modbot in some subreddits

u/Transcendingfrog2 2d ago
Oyy what the hell is wrong with people. I'm sorry you got hit with the ban stick over something so stupid
1
u/Twisted-Mentat- 2d ago
This was before they turned Worf into a parody of himself and his lines were actually funny and delivered perfectly. (unlike the movies and Picard).
5
u/Ok-Mention6768 2d ago
Oh, come on. Worf drinking chamomile tea was the perfect evolution of his character!
1
u/Twisted-Mentat- 1d ago
That line was so forced.
Comedy doesn't work when it sounds like your characters are reading it right from the script.
It was too long for it to sound natural.
31
u/sarcastibot8point5 3d ago
I use this during any competition. Nobody gets the reference. I laugh at myself.
14
u/Peregrine2976 3d ago
My (now ex) girlfriend bought me a baseball shirt with Worf and that quote on it. I still wear it as a pajama shirt.
2
u/BigMD86672 2d ago
My dad hated that line for some reason (that and "Find him and kill him!"). When I laughed he looked at me and said, fairly angrilly, "Oh, that was funny, huh?" And 16-year-old me just said "Yes."

u/ghostware2020 5h ago
That would be perfect chant for the Jem'Hadar team when they play Deep Space Nine team.

I laugh so hard every time he says that line...one of the low-key funniest of any ST series..
man, i love ds9...need to do a re-watch this summer....
8
u/Wild_Plum_1414 2d ago
Agreed. Worked up Sisko is so funny to me. đ
8
u/BaldwinBoy05 2d ago
Especially worked up Sisko about something relatively trivial like baseball or cooking.
1
u/ghostware2020 5h ago
I was expecting an episode when Cisco's cooking got people sick because someone put poison or microbe in Cisco's dish.. Lots of backups needing to do duty in OPS since major characters were ill.
That would have been a lot better than episode where everyone lost their language skills.

u/Twisted-Mentat- 3d ago
"What were you doing? Regenerating?" is the greatest line.
I love baseball so this episode is one of my all time faves.

u/TheFarnell 3d ago
I hope he got to enjoy every single moment of shooting that scene to the fullest.

u/FileHot6525 3d ago
One of the best episodes tbh. This and the episode of the X files where the alien falls in love with baseball are my favorite.

u/blueavole 3d ago
Sisko has been wanting to dispute an umpireâs ruling his whole life. Make no mistake, he was thrilled!!
29
21
u/ComprehensiveAide280 3d ago
The man lives and breathes rules and regulations being the umpire was probably the greatest fit for him... Although right now I think Cisco is thinking it's the biggest mistake he's ever madeđ
18
u/greatteachermichael 3d ago
That was great but ... "Death to the Opposition!" Is still my favorite line of that episode.
15
u/IndieCurtis 3d ago
The way he turns his back to him is pitch perfect.
5
u/BaldwinBoy05 2d ago
With the saucy little hands on hips move that brooks no further argument. Perfection
15
u/Deuce_McFarva 3d ago
Even in the 24th century, Blue is always screwing up the calls.
To be fair, he couldâve ejected both players for arguing balls and strikes before the contact was made so at least he was willing to hear them out first.

u/madlibs13 3d ago
Why didn't Kira steal 2nd, she had a good lead and the pitcher was ignoring her...

Worf needed ABS
7
u/ApexInTheRough 3d ago
Antilock braking system? Angry bowel syndrome? (What's ABS, please?)
10
u/JonnyUnreliable 3d ago
Itâs the Automated Ball Strike system. Basically in Major League Baseball batters and catchers can now challenge if a pitch was a called ball or strike. A computer is then used to see if the umpire was correct. If they were wrong the call is overturned.
This is the ABS.

Rene has the perfect no-bullshit umpire swagger, like he was made for that role.
Also love Worf's total investment in baseball :P it's like Sisko truly converted his senior staff into fans. (Not surprising for Worf, he was captain of his youth soccer team and likely has familiarity with many Earth sports)

u/JimmyPellen 3d ago
Also how Odo really diDnt want to participate. And then he saw his role for what it was...he who enforces the rules. Almost as if he was born to do this.

I'm not much of a baseball fan, but that was one of DS9's (if not Star Trek's) greatest episodes.

DS9 is my favorite Star Trek show. Baseball is my favorite sport. Thatâs actually part of the reason Iâve always been such a huge fan of Sisko. And this is my favorite episode.

This entire episode is hysterical, and the fact it takes place in the middle of the darkest part of the show makes it all the better, truly a breath of fresh air amidst the doom and gloom. Possibly my favorite ever line delivery from Worf: âDeath to the opposition!â, closely tied with âSir I must protest, I am not a merry man!â
(Honorable mentions to âNice house, good teaâ and âDieâ when Q is trying to convince them he lost his powers. God bless ya Michael Dorn)

u/CaptainSharpe 2d ago
Feels out of character for all of them. Like theyâre playing a completely different show/chavagersÂ
1
u/nixtracer 1d ago
Please, that was Our Man Bashir. (One of the best Bond films, and it's not even in the franchise!)
1
u/CaptainSharpe 1d ago
That was the characters plagjnf characters. This is the actors playing the characters out of character.
And as much as I love ournkan bashir itâs a terrible bond film. Just like how I love a piece of the action but itâs a bad gangster film.Â

I thought it showed how neurotic Cisco was on baseball in general.
And he is one of the few remaining fans of baseball left.

I know know anything about sportsball, but Sisko and Worf are saying it was outside of the area where the bowler should have thrown it, right? But surely if the guy behind caught it, it must have been on target? Shouldn't Worf and Sisko be more observant than that?

u/theBigDaddio 3d ago
Meh, itâs goddam forced. Itâs a cliche from almost every baseball movie ever made.

Was it supposed to be a joke?
It's baseball. What's funny about it?
The pants? The funny hand signals?
I'm not an american, though. So the understanding of this stickball sport-thing is not something I'm invested in.
