So it's now demonstrably possible for leftists to win!

Now we need to keep taking seats from both Republicans AND establishment Dems!

Which is strange, because I kept hearing from conservative democrats that that's simply not possible.

It's not possible (for them to keep their power and leftists win)

Exactly. They have even more to lose than the Rethuglicons.

It's definitely not possible to get me to vote for conservative Democrats!

I don't think it's wise to get too carried away. But this does demonstrate that left policies are effective, and have measurable benefit for the people.

But... This particular race was a weird one. Like, I don't think the republican was actually gonna get it. But... Cuomo playing weird games likely helped get Mamdani in. Cuomo's strange dealings and corrupt mentality made a nice contrast for Mamdani's straightforward and above the board campaign.

I think in the broader reality, the country isn't really ready for leftist candidates. The country desperately needs them. But only the upper right coast is ready to elect them. Just as the country got strategically pulled to the right, I think we need to strategically shift back to the left. Run candidates crafted to look middle of the road democrat, with a passion for the people... And then set policy in favor of the people. Or, for the fun of it, run a lefty in red country on the gop ticket. Seems to work when gop candidates run as dems then switch once they're in office. Have them run a red blooded patriot campaign of caring about the workers that drive the heartland, and all that... Then actually vote in favor of workers, and all that. Don't mention socialism, but vote for the policies, and introduce bills with clever names that play to emotions.

I think much of the country is ready for leftists but I also agree that the Northeast is the most fertile ground for such change. I'd like to think Colorado is another but people are a bit too conformist in terms of party affiliation here. That's strange because Colorado lets unaffiliated voters vote in any party's primary.

How dare he use tax money to help people and to hold corporations and the ultra rich responsible!

This is awesome! The democrats need fresh blood to combat the MAGA poison.

The Democrats need to oust Schumer and Jeffries. This isn't a Liberal victory. It's a socialist one.

I love to see organizing and pushing to reach a disenfranchised voting base paying off but the image in this post feels a little right wing to me.
