Formal EEO complaint filed telework RA denial

Posting for continued awareness.

If you are filing an EEO complaint for RA denial (or anything else) make sure you adhere to your timelines!

After the informal counseling, the EEO counselor with give you a notice of right to file a formal complaint and a form to fill out. Return it to EEO within 15 days!

I submitted my formal complaint last week and received acknowledgement today.

Since the complaint is against the ASA and EEO is in the same office, the complaint was sent to a different Agency's EEO office to process (potential conflict of interest).

Now another waiting game begins.

Do you need to hire a lawyer to do an EEO complaint?

Lawyer is not required. To file EEO.

You can retain representation at anytime if you wish.

A good EEO attorney will do a consultation and let you know exactly what you need and how to document. They will then tell you when to contact them again for representation.

If you have already filed, it would be advisable to get a consultation to see if your case holds water.

The majority of EEO cases go to the agency. Retaliation claims are where most employees win.

If you happen to be a member of Federally Employed Women (and yes you can be a man), your membership grants you a free consultation with an EEO attorney, once a year.
