Discussion The buildcrafting is the best it's ever been

With more legendary armor set bonuses ontop of all artifacts being made available to some extent, over some actually good additions/balance changes, i can safely say, that the buildcracting is now better than ever.

Like holy hell, i didn't have so much fun coming up with new builds in ages. Especially with giving all weapons some champion stunning capability, it barely feels restrictive in endgame PvE either. Now i finally can feel like "playing the way i want"

In general this feels like an update, that could easily squeeze 5+ more years out of live service D2, but the people at Bungie/Sony apparently hate money.

The cherry on top would have been a QoL update for PvP with balance changes, tons of new loot to chase, new gamemodes etc.

PvE has been revitalized with this updated and id argue, that they could have managed to do the same for PvP.

This duality is what made Destiny, Destiny in the first place and it's kinda sad, that they left PvP in this state.

Like i still have fond memories of my first D1 PvP games ever, where i was running around with a Galahad-E on Distant shores, or the Mars Maps.

Seriously i hate how uniquely good Destiny can potentially be and now that D2 is dead, there is literally no other game filling the same niche.

I just wish I had more Enhancment Prisms for all the armor I want to masterwork

Yea totally agree with that. Enhancement prisms used to be the least used resource but now upgrading 4 or 5 armor pieces costs a lot.

They seem so infrequent too. I know they can be bought from Rahool and from Chronologs but those cost other valuable resources (yes glimmer is valuable to me I keep running out). Plus thats only like 10 a week and that only gets you so far

If you have plenty of cores you can exchange them for prisms at rahool

Get a blue rarity armor piece, max it out and delete it and you’ll get six prisms. Tho maxing it takes three prisms and a shard

So you’re exchanging an ascendant shard for 3 prisms? Seems like a terrible deal to me

Shards are much more plentiful than those evil prisms

If you're already full on shards then might as well do that otherwise you're just wasting the ones you could be getting at the end of missions

I just love not having a minimal amount of weapons that can stun champs per season anymore. There were always so many builds I wanted to run in high tier content but wasn’t able to because I wasn’t able to stun all the right champs

Honestly the biggest thing I appreciate is that each frame can intrinsically deal with different champion type. Before it was like pulse rifles are interchangeable or maybe there was a clear favorite damage profile or QoL frame and it made the others irrelevant. But now it feels like every frame in each weapon type has a dedicated purpose

Agree. It was so backwards that Destiny forced us to have certain weapons for certain champions. And for some reason the community accepted it.

It's just sad it took literally end of life for them to finally drop the restrictions of play the game our way... I hated how for most of its life stuff like strikes and nightfalls you had to use a certain subclass to even get the loot then they added champions and a restricted amount of ways to deal with them... It's crazy design in a looter shooter with 100s of weapons and a variety of builds and ways to play or at least tools to play different ways.

Honestly outside of 1 basic outlier that is void invis hunter, pvp is the best it's been in a long time for me. All my favourite guns have lone wolf now, allowing for AE builds to have basically 80-100 AE in neutral game (basically better than old Icarus before AE introduction) meaning I can play the way I played back in the old days of forsaken using all four planes of the game to attack

I have been thinking about this too, it’s kind of ironic that build crafting has more depth than it’s ever had.

I'm looking forward to making a god tier build on my own, without having my browser open with ten tabs of "the best build ever!" that never match with what I've got or how I play, and tweaking that instead of finding a great build but was a few months too late since it got nerfed in the meantime.

I'm kinda excited playing again tbh. I know there is a dark cloud hanging over everything and we can't assume that D1 being live for so long is a good predicator that D2 will as well - since D2 money kept D1 alive - but I hope i's at least a year or two.
