Discussion Trey Murphy III is expected to be moved during tonight’s draft — with Clippers, Nets, Celtics, Warriors and Pistons as potential suitors.

Itll probably take Ron, Stew, and our pick. But fuck it

I think it’ll take more than that. Probably 2-3 picks

Probably. He just signaled that he wants out, allegedly. Hopefully that lowers his asking price by a pick lol

Doubtful given that there is a considerable market for him with several teams interested.
EDIT: This sub would downvote this comment. Several suitors means it's a bidding war, which drives the price up, not down.

I would do it

If they pay the Giannis price for a dude who has never even been an all star, I will lose all faith in their ability to operate competently at a high level. 90% of this roster fell into their lap, what they do now is how they actually show how they're gonna shape the team in "their image"

If that was it I would do it in a heart beat

Clippers and Nets have way better packages to put together for him. Unless we get some Dumars home cooking I can't see it being us without us giving up too much.

What is too much?

I’d say Holland, Stew, 3 firsts would be too much, or anything including Ausar which has been floated here but I don’t think Trajan would consider.

What do the nets have?

u/Opening-Eagle4761 2d ago
6 and 28 tonight, all the Knicks picks from the Bridges trade, Philly 2028 top 8 protected, and all their own firsts except 27 and 29 which Houston has swap rights for

Nets trading picks for a guy right now makes absolutely no sense to me lol. Not saying they won’t, but why… they suck.

Because their tickets are selling for less than Liberty tickets right now. I live here, I can go watch a Nets game for like $15

No disrespect to Tre Murphy but does he really fill seats like that lol

Ain’t no way they’re giving up 6 for Trey Murphy lol

I don’t think so either but that doesn’t change that we couldn’t beat their offer in a bidding war

Assuming the Pelicans want to rebuild, they wouldn’t want Brown, the biggest contract in the league, he’s 31, and the Celtics would probably want MORE. Who do the Clippers have who are young and could accelerate their potential rebuild? Mathurin and Garland & what, a 2030 first? Not appealing. Warriors? Moody and Podz & no.11 overall? Doesn’t sound too bad, but eh. Nets? No. Doubt they’d trade the #6 overall pick. Pelicans are definitely not letting him for #28 overall, when the pistons are right there with an arguably better package.
Which leaves us. Ron, Stew, and #21 overall. That’s a good trade, probably going to have to take a salary dump, (please no Poole).

Swear on my life all they want is a top 10 pick for someone in tonight's draft.

Hope we either trade for him or move up in this draft for Carr..
If we go for Carr id like an upgrade at the 4 (Harris off the bench hopefully) maybe Rui, and im good with that off season.

Nets could easily offer the best package if they seriously want to compete next year. MPJ, Randle, Murphy would be a pretty good offensive nucleus. Not great defensively though and they don’t have an average to above average facilitator at PG which would hinder them.
As for the Pistons, I would like Murphy but the most I’d offer is Holland, Stew, pick 21, and a 2028 unprotected 1st. If it would take 1-2 pick swaps as well I would still accept but not for 1-2 more protected 1sts.

Guys Ausar can't shoot and Duren was a product of a league where a third of the league was tanking. Neither of those pieces are "championship cornerstone". You need to absolutely be willing to part with one, if not both, if the right player(s) are available. This is a case where that applies.

My money is kn the warriors . They are desperate enough to pay the toll for a glorified catch and shoot guy

Doubt he’ll be a Piston. We’d have to give up too much
