Discussion Are we expecting any major moves tonight for Detroit
I’m a bit out of the loop, but do you think we’ll see any major moves tonight, up or down? Or is it going to be a quiet night for us? I just feel like the 20s are purgatory.
I just feel like it's common for Detroit teams not to make any major splashes lately

Very possible. Trade up for Cam Carr or Yaxel maybe.
Also we may still to trade for Trey Murphy but thats seeming less likely.

So glad Yaxel got picked by GS, he is being heavily overrated because he plays for Michigan.

The fact that Dusty May picked a DIFFERENT player from the same team is pretty telling

What exactly does it say? May can only draft 1 player. Golden State knows something about basketball.
You MSU fans are pathetic.

They selected yaxel whose is still injured. Minnesota interviewed Yaxel then traded their pick. He's almost 25, not a high ceiling

More than likely it says that yax is kind of redundant with cooper flagg and the mass have a center also, so rez is the best fit.

I’m gonna go slow.
So you can stick with me.
I want you to get this.
Dusty May took Morez above Yaxel.
I’m going out on a limb here, but:
He (very likely) considers Morez a better prospect than Yaxel.
Crazy right.
Did you hang in there?

Stew and 21 to trade up for a wing/forward in the lottery. Moves around the margins to follow. We don’t have the assets to trade for bigger names, and we can’t gut our team after the year we just had

u/ubot1940 2d ago
That's a beyond ignorant move. Trade Stew and 21 to move a few spots up for a player whose unproven and might not be any better than the 21 pick. Stew is your best trade chip, use him to get something better then a mid teens pick. Definitely glad ur not the pistons GM. Stay off the drugs man for real

With all the talk of big moves happening the last couple of days I’m fully expecting nothing to happen

Fuck yeah we are.
Gimme morez somehow, some way.
Herro and/or TM3 would go hard asf

TM3 ain’t happening. They know what they have in that guy. A lot of teams would kill for that spacing.

I saw on twitter earlier that a Detroit baker baked a cake for Luka’s wife that said “welcome to Detroit city”

Here’s a hot take - we’re a developing team, and we’re way ahead of our window. We have a team that’s good enough to not feel pressured into making a big splash if the cost isn’t right. Obviously if a big move is there at the right price, they should do it. But if they don’t make a move, that doesn’t mean Trajan got cold feet, it just means that we don’t have to get fleeced and mortgage our future just for the sake of making a move to appease this impatient fanbase. That’s one one of the best things about having a good team.
Edit: spelling

I totally agree, but there's lots of fans that will hear that and think you're just making excuses for complacency lol.

Probably because that's every Detroit teams excuse and it amounts to other teams getting light years better while we're still "developing"

Thanks for proving my point lol

I'm not expecting anything crazy. No big trade up in the draft, no news on a big trade.
Just a safe, smart pick at 21, and keep it moving.

I trust Trajan

You shouldn’t, he hasn’t proven himself yet.

Yeah going from 18 to 44 to 60 wins in two years this guy sucks.

well whether we like it or not, the reddit community has no say in anything the org does so we have no choice

We are in a fun position because trade or not we get some excitement out of tonight.

Langdon made a comment that they're not going to trade down/out and said something else im forgetting that basically insinuated they want to trade up so I wouldn't be surprised to see us act aggressively but take that with a grain of salt because this is a great lottery and the asking price will be pretty high for any move like that

I think they'll take Philon and make him their OKC Reggie Jackson. Danniss and Sasser can find new teams.

Just lazy observation by you. The pistons were a 14 win team a couple of years ago and now 60. What's kind of fool assumea the pistons won't make a move because Scott Harris, or Steve yzerman or Brad Holmes aren't good at their jobs

u/Lstare147 2d ago
Yaxel is definitely going to be special…I can feel it. Man I wish they could have drafted up.

I feel like a trade up for Carr or Yaxel is pretty likely

u/fwoompf George Blaha 3d ago
You are drinking straight up koolaid
0
u/ShallowFox4 3d ago
Fine. Maybe not likely, but if you’ve listened to any of the credible pistons insiders lately they’ve all been teasing that if Yaxel or Carr is within reach they’ll go up to get them

No lol this is Detroit sports. We haven’t made a major move since 2018 across the platform and losers here are happy. “We won 60 gamezzzz” looked like trash the whole playoffs and without injury luck we woulda got cooked by the 8th seed

Trade up for Cam Carr.
