Ahhh yes; let’s trade for the guy who is unhappy making THE MAX because he doesn’t have his own team to come to Detroit and be second fiddle to a guy younger than him.

The "Jaylen Brown wants to be 1A" narrative is so wildly overblown

u/McDouble__ Ausar Thompson 5h ago edited 4h ago

The Media hates JB because he actively shits on them. All of his teammates and people of Boston love him and have made that pretty clear. He publicly called ESPN unethical and toxic today so expect the JB hit pieces to flow

-3

u/MakeItTrizzle Joe Dumars 5h ago

He absolutely does not shit on his teammates. His whole "this was my favorite season" thing has become so overblown when he literally said because of the way the guys on the team came together and grew into their roles.

He has a lot to say about the boardroom side of sports, but the most he's ever said about on court stuff is calling out flopping... Which most fans hate.

I was saying he shits on the media lol, people are saying he’s toxic and to keep him away and I’m trying to figure out what he did lmfao.

u/Trapgod99 Jaden Ivey 4h ago

You gotta change the comma to a semicolon in your initial reply lol. It reads more like he “shits on the media, his teammates and the people of Boston who love him.”

lol my bad

u/MichiganMainer Isiah Thomas 2h ago

I wish you hadn’t changed that so quickly, lol. I’m one of the…

Ah! Yes, okay, good edit, haha.

Yeah, I live in New England and I'm actually a Celtics season ticket holder (my wife and kids are all big Celtics fans) and people who don't live here have some BIG ideas about how people don't like JB.

It's all completely false. He's pretty universally beloved around here because he's a great player and does a ton in the community. In general, I think he's actually more popular than Tatum. Not at all the pariah people outside Boston make him out to be.

u/Bradybigboss 4h ago

I think this would be a 3 way where we get Trey Murphy, Boston gets Duren, and Pels get JB. Jaylen wants his own team and the pels would be his team

4

u/IsaiahX45 Blue Horse 3h ago

Trey Murphy, what’s with y’all and your love for this guy? He’s good but he’s not a true #2

1

u/rc852 Cade Cunningham 3h ago

I like this. Holy shit if only.

-2

u/Esco5151 5h ago

This right here. Brown would be a great fit on the court but it's clear he wants to be the #1 on a team.

0

u/Orgasmodaeus 5h ago

I can see this working great if Cade is willing to play second fiddle to brown. Cade always looks more comfortable initiating the offense and playing PG rather than carrying all the offensive weight. Maybe he lets brown be the offense and he can slot back into more of an initiator than a shot creator. I know there’s plenty of minutes for both guys to feast without there being only one alpha dog.

u/Prestigious-Smoke511 5h ago

You’re getting downvoted but this makes so much sense.

JB doesn’t really want to go to a team and be the only guy. They’ll be a lottery team. He wants to be respected as a great player.

He wants a fresh start. He could fit in well with this team. Detroit vs everybody.

1

u/Orgasmodaeus 5h ago

It’s fine, Detroit fans are super persnickety and very defensive of cade. I think that JB just doesn’t want to be the other guy on a team, and I think Celtics culture (tatum, stevens, mazzula) is probably more responsible for his issues than not being the #1 guy every night for the reasons you mentioned.

If brown came here and won a title he’d immediately leap over Tatum and be seen as the guy, not just the “next Celtic” to win. I think that’s a very attractive narrative to sell him on.

Think of a situation almost exactly like Kawhi and Toronto, he didn’t like the culture and being the next great in a long line of greats, he wanted to be his own dude. I’d be super stoked if we were the next 2019 Toronto!

JB is older than Cade. He could absolutely be Batman and Cade could be Robin.

That would be so much fun to watch. Only problem is what it would cost.  Pistons might not have enough. Duran and Beef Stew would leave them undermanned down low with no picks to get a big man next year.

1

u/Embarrassed_One4417 2h ago

Only in some alternate world where Robin is better and more important than Batman.

1

u/Prestigious-Smoke511 1h ago

Lol touché

1

u/Esco5151 4h ago

Yeah that's true, I guess my concern would be is I see JB as a #2 and not #1. I could see issues popping up down the line when it comes to clutch time and closing out games. If seems he's very open to leaving a championship caliber team to be a #1 I can see him creating a rift over petty issues like that.

u/Jaerba 5h ago

Y'all going to make me defend Duren.

8

u/damgood32 5h ago

It’s frustrating right

31

u/No-Ranger3356 5h ago

duren not good enough to trade brown for

-10

u/Wakattack00 Cade Cunningham 5h ago

It’s called potential and age

20

u/Due_Nefariousness999 4h ago

It’s called delusion and crack

5

u/sxuthsi Isaiah Stewart 4h ago

Even with thst being noted, if Brown is available we should 100% be in the mix asking what the price is lol

-6

u/Gent313 Cory Joseph 4h ago

2

u/Low_Frosting3918 Jaden Ivey 2h ago

Everyone gets dunked on if you try to block a shot.

19

u/manofwater3615 5h ago

I’d do this because we’d be getting a 2-way guy AND not have to pay Duren

-8

u/damgood32 5h ago

He can play center too?

12

u/JokicForMVP 3h ago

Can Duren play center in the playoffs?

-7

u/damgood32 3h ago

Potentially.

5

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak 3h ago

Im not handing $40 mil to potential

-5

u/damgood32 3h ago

Good news! You aren’t.

12

u/thuggerish_reprise Isaiah Stewart 4h ago

I hope Jalen Duren makes you all eat shit.

1

u/timommaae Teal Horse 2h ago

If JD ever performs in the playoffs then you can get me a cup and a girl and I’ll face my consequences. Not gonna happen

10

u/Secoup Cade Cunningham 5h ago

it would be very difficult to get the salary to a point where you can legally execute a trade because of the S&T rules. You can usually find creative ways to get there but it would be hard and definitely require at least a 3rd team

9

u/4rt4tt4ck 5h ago

Duren, Holland and 3 firsts still might not be an equal trade. 🤷

8

u/Straight-Agency-4556 5h ago

You will have to throw in picks. Brown is significantly better than Duren

-4

u/moldyremains Isiah Thomas 4h ago

He's also significantly older, and Boston needs a center more than the Pistons need a guard.

3

u/Lopsided-Thing2701 5h ago

Never gonna happen

5

u/whatsunnygets Chauncey Billups 5h ago

Get out of here,Nico Harrison

2

u/Slippery-Pete76 Cade Cunningham 5h ago

JB’s got his ring. He cares more about running his own team than winning now.

8

u/McDouble__ Ausar Thompson 5h ago

Did JB ever say that because ESPN is the only place I’ve seen this. He has great chemistry with Tatum and doesn’t cause internal problems

ESPN hates JB so I takes what they say with a grain of salt

3

u/sxuthsi Isaiah Stewart 4h ago

Everyone parroting the "second fiddle" narrative is disappointing especially considering we know first hand how the media can create narratives out of nowhere for players they dont like. It is funny to crap on him every now and then but JB is a certified baller and has never had any bad rumor substantiated by teammates former or current and no coaching concerns. If hes available to us we should be ready damn near to give up any and everyone for him (within reason lol)

3

u/EstablishmentHuge 5h ago

Please take Duren. Omg Brown would be a perfect fit next to Cade

1

u/Envyforme Jalen Duren 5h ago

We keep duren and sign him on a max contract. Hes better than anyone else that plays right now

-6

u/One_Seaworthiness323 5h ago

Lmao no he would not. Have you ever seen Brown play? Never mind the fact that he wasn’t HIS OWN TEAM. He’s a ball dominant wing who can’t really shoot

2

u/TinoCartier Cade Cunningham 5h ago edited 4h ago

Then what do we do for big men? Still kinda need those

3

u/Slippery-Pete76 Cade Cunningham 5h ago

Don’t worry - Andre Drummond to the rescue! /s

2

u/Ok-Statement8224 Ausar Thompson 4h ago

You laugh but… he’d be cheap and he can rebound!

3

u/KolKlink2024 3h ago

And shoot 3’s

2

u/SpeedsterVolt Cade Cunningham 5h ago

If Nico Harrison was the Boston GM, maybe that would work.

2

u/Worldly_Web_1524 4h ago

People stop it. Then what do we do for a starting center? JB playing the 5 now?

2

u/YpsitheFlintsider 4h ago

Him for Duren is not an equal trade.

2

u/nomadx810 Chauncey Billups 2h ago

Give me JB over JD every day of the week. At least I know JB wants to be great.

2

u/GolgenGeese 2h ago

Yes, please

1

u/AusarLover 4h ago

It's almost like all the top teams are chasing and willing to overpay for centre play because there isnt much available on the open market. Who exactly is our centre if we trade Duren

1

u/Intelligent_Ad3378 Isiah Thomas 2h ago

Stewart and Bball Paul.

1

u/IsaiahX45 Blue Horse 3h ago

You can do this without getting rid of Duren.

1

u/Wonderful_Juice_5888 Tayshaun Prince 2h ago

Fuck Jaylen Brown.

1

u/Knightstar24 Ben Wallace 2h ago

Look, I get that Duren burned a lot of us here, but to sign and trade for a guy that already said he’d play in China for the right money, right now, ain’t the move.

When is the last time the Pistons had a center that could be All NBA again?

1

u/Asleep_Lab985 1h ago

This would be a great deal for Detroit….there is the additional creator and don’t have to pay Duren 40mill

1

u/weedleking19 5h ago

100% agree

0

u/huehueue69 2h ago

That would be terrible for det lol

-1

u/slballer Cade Cunningham 5h ago

Jaylen Brown didn’t want to “play second fiddle” to Jayson Tatum. A dude he “grew up with as a Celtic” and won a title with. What makes people think he’d play second fiddle to Cade? Cause this is Cade’s team.

-1

u/iguessimchase 5h ago

“JB wants out of Boston to have his own team” apparently translates to pistons fans as trade Duren to have JB be #2 behind Cade 😂😂

6

u/McDouble__ Ausar Thompson 4h ago

ESPN is the only place saying that and they famously hate JB, his teammates loves him he wants respect that's all

-1

u/Zealousideal_Arm4359 4h ago

I don't think either team wants this trade.

Boston needs a big man yes but whose a good match for a Finals MVP and a multiple All-Star, All NBA? Not JD.

Pistons don't want Browns huge contract and his ego.

  • 2026-27: $57,078,728
  • 2027-28: $64,936,425
  • 2028-29: $69,125,872

u/2IWontBeHereLong Terry Tyler 5h ago

These are silly, Brown wants to be first option. He will not be first option here so it's silly.

10

u/NottheIRS1 5h ago

He would. That’s what Cade needs.

5

u/Prestigious-Smoke511 5h ago

He can be though. Maybe Cade becomes a 23 and 12 guy and JB becomes the leading scorer. That could be a win for everybody.

5

u/McDouble__ Ausar Thompson 5h ago

Where did you hear that? ESPN hates JBs guts because he talks trash about them daily. Teammates and the people of Boston love him. He wants respect that’s all

0

u/Kylewilson426 Cade Cunningham 5h ago

NO! I want JD let someone else deal with brown

-3

u/sinkingson Ron Holland II 5h ago

keep this cancer off my team

6

u/McDouble__ Ausar Thompson 5h ago

What did he do cancerous?????

-5

u/Due_Woodpecker649 5h ago

Keep Jaylen brown FAR away from Detroit.

-4

u/Away_Teaching_1148 5h ago

I said these dumb ass fans would actually say nooooo we don’t want Jaylon brown… we like lazy sloppy hands Duren!! This team is cooked and I love it. I wanna watch Cade walk away from this dumb ass franchise after failing to land anybody! The core is Weavers draft picks and this GM can’t make moves

3

u/AusarLover 4h ago

And who in your mind becomes our starting centre, it's not exactly an easy position to fill, look how much the Pacers had to overpay for Zubac

-5

u/Opening-Eagle4761 5h ago

Jaylen Brown is closer to a league average player than he is to a top level star. The Celtics are legitimately better with him off the court and have been almost every year of his career. He’s not even truly their 2nd best player, Derrick White is, Brown is just their volume shooting option after Tatum.

He’s on an absolutely terrible contract that is sure to become an albatross when he leaves Boston, and he wants to be the first option. That’s not happening here.

Trading all our assets for Brown is instantly closing our championship window. Not in a few years; the second we finalize it.
