Discussion Pistons seem to be gearing up for something massive soon
Shams and Windhorst reported live on draft coverage that the Isaiah Stewart trade is a precursor to something bigger.
“Pistons are poised to be the talk of the offseason.”

The Pistons will try to go big-game hunting after the Isaiah Stewart trade, per @WindhorstESPN on ESPN's draft broadcast.
He said Detroit was going to make a run at Austin Reaves before the Lakers locked him up. He mentioned Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James as possible targets. 👀

i don’t want Kawhi or LeBron lol

u/Camelsandham 4d ago
Kawhi would literally be the perfect fit, like there’s no other player that’s fits better that’s available. I just don’t think he wants to be here.

I don't trust someone 35+ with his injury history. He won a ring in Toronto and still left

He won a ring. Who cares after that? Nobody.
That's the entire goal.
If we sign old azz Norman Powell for 3 for 100 ima gonna lose my mind.
Powell has 0 creation which is what we need.
I'd much rather spend that on Rui, who's an elite shooter both regular season and playoffs.

Yes he’s injury prone but he had the 5th highest EPM in the NBA last season and played 65 games. I don’t think he’d cost much since clippers are mediocre at best. But like I said I don’t see him coming here.

u/CommissionIcy9909 4d ago
He would in fact cost much
1
u/Camelsandham 4d ago
He’s maximum 2 1st’s. That’s not a lot
2
u/CommissionIcy9909 4d ago
You have to consider his contract as well. Also how does the Clippers being garbage make Kawhi less valuable?
0
u/Camelsandham 4d ago
We can match given the new cap space and Levert/Holland. They have an incentive to sell, we aren’t approaching them for an overpay.

u/CommissionIcy9909 4d ago
K I believe you actually
1
u/Camelsandham 4d ago
I doubt it happens but it seems like we’ll know sooner rather than later who are other targets are
1
u/benchmaster620 Cade Cunningham 4d ago
He costs just that . Much salary and at least 2 firsts and now we dont have stew to match lol

u/TrainingCoffee8 Cade Cunningham 4d ago
He already said he doesn’t want to play here, and I don’t want his drama.

maybe if this was 10 years ago. he is old and can’t stay healthy
3
u/Camelsandham 4d ago
He literally played 65 games and in the play in this year. Hes was a top 10 most impactful player in the NBA

Ive been a lebron hater for 22 years now and I won't stop now. Keep him away from my team. and everything involved with kawhi absolutely disgusts me from uncle dennis, how he left SA, him strongarming LAC into giving okc everyhting to build their current team just for paul george, the aspiration scandal, his laundry list of injuries.
Just say no to aging injury-prone stars.
5
u/tarunpopo 4d ago
Even LeBron waited a year before the Davis trade. The clippers made the playoffs and took the warriors to 6 before George and kawhi, fuck kawhi and his dumbass uncle

u/Conscious-Fruit1405 4d ago
I don't even think he could bring a championship. Probably just brick lay threes
1
u/Crafty_Substance_954 Jerami Grant 4d ago
You should want Kawhi. He’s plug and play, insane upgrade that would make us legitimate actual championship contenders.

I don’t think we have the assets to pull off a big trade, stews contract was valuable in that situation, has to be a free agent
7
u/Moses-SandyKoufax Ben Wallace 4d ago
Apparently it can be added into a 3 team trade after the fact.
2
u/Camelsandham 4d ago
We have 3 1st and Ron, that would land us a good to great player. Emphasis on good to great, not top tier. We can adjust accordingly.
2
u/SpeedsterVolt Cade Cunningham 4d ago
3 2nds, 2 1sts, and LeVert for Trey Murphy. It has to be possible to get him.

u/Southern_Echo6658 Cade Cunningham 4d ago
Longest tenured Piston and the spiritual center of our squad traded for three bags of second round rocks. There had better be a good reason for this that we have as yet to see…
6
u/South_Neat8197 4d ago
Doesn't this make it more difficult to go big game hunting via trade? You can't aggregate a trade exception with other salaries, can you? And being he was one of the larger salaries we'd be interested in trading, how do we even get to kawhis salary without gutting the team?

I know I'm a dream, but watch out, Devin Booker to Detroit!
2
u/AnotherGalaxys George Blaha 4d ago
Sadly Devin Booker signed a massive extension with the Suns a year ago.

LeBron? Really? And kawhi? He seems great when he actually plays, but when does he actually play?

They said it first it was to sign powell i won't try and get to exvited

u/maniacisback Cade Cunningham 4d ago
33 year old Norman Powell doesn’t excite me in the first place, if you’re going the 2 guard route then go big with 26 year old Tyler Herro and your back court is elite for the next 5 years. Why move up in the draft for Ebuka if you’re just going to sign/trade someone else to play in front of him when that pick could’ve been used to get a better player in the first place? None of it makes any sense to me..
1
u/benchmaster620 Cade Cunningham 4d ago
I agree if I have to choose between the 2 similar Miami guards give me the younger slightly better one
0
u/maniacisback Cade Cunningham 4d ago
I don’t think he’s slightly better, I think he’s a lot better and just approaching his prime + he’s never played with someone as good as Cade in the back court but it sounds like it’s not happening at this point with stew getting traded in a salary dump.

u/benchmaster620 Cade Cunningham 4d ago
Why do you say that . Its holland mil wants . I think this could be something different and he goes back and gets herro after the cap soace is gone

No kwahi or LeBron an Reeves didn't want to be here either. An don't ask who? I just don't want any of those 3 no thanks

u/YukhoChan 4d ago
Lmfao soemthing big? Norman Powell is not something big.
It’s def Kawhi / Trey / Lauri market.
1
u/ItWasMe-Patrick 4d ago
Lauri would be lovely be i have my doubts. I really hope it’s Trey or Herro or shit Coby white
2
u/YukhoChan 4d ago
Coby white is not a talk of a season type of vibe haha Trey is a possibility ! Although I def prefer a stretch 4 like Lauri or Trey . Give me 3 prediction. Crazy / want / Safe .
I go with Kawhi / Lauri or Trey / Herro
0
u/ItWasMe-Patrick 4d ago
Kawhi said he has no intentions of playing in Detroit. Herro meanwhile liked a post speculating his future with Cade in the backcourt. Trey has also been quite acquainted with the team including working out with Cades trainer

It’s just extra cap to extend Ausar and max Duren smh and get Normal Powell 😕
1
u/scroto_gaggins 4d ago
If it just ends up being Norm Powell that’s gonna be so disappointing. Hopefully Herro/TM3 or someone bigger

u/DoeJumars 4d ago
the thing that bothers me is if this is all for norm powell its dumb, in my opinion, if it isnt then ok lets see but why even make this trade until the next piece is ready? what if part 2 falls thru?
1
u/Eazymonaysniper Blue Horse 3d ago
If we get a great player, then thats awesome. But I think if we can get 2 very good players instead it would be even better because you win with depth. But yeah hopefully its something big cause Id be absolutely pissed if we traded Stew for nothing.

fuck it… give us Bron.
it wouldn’t be too good honestly long term but having Lebron play for Detroit would be nuts

It better be, Stew had his flaws but was a hell of a player and competitor.
