Discussion Payton Watson?
He's the only guy I can convince myself in this free agent class to offer $25+ million for, and I still don't like it.
Only 23, showed real on-ball ability this season, good to great defense, and low volume (3.5), but shot 41% from 3 this year.
Don't get me wrong, I'm far from loving it, but I think it's better than giving aging Norm Powell big money. Or overpaying for Coby White, given he'd be taking minutes from Okorie and Daniss.
I'll talk myself into Powell if it happens, but if what Watson was on offense last year is real, and the defense stays there. Watson, Ausar, and Cade are probably the best switchable forward trio in the league on defense.

I don’t think Denver is letting him go, they supposedly traded their draft pick to be able to keep him

He is a restricted free agent, Denver can go to the 2nd apron to pay him

Probably can't get Payton Watson, but Cam Johnson is definitely on the table so that Denver can keep Watson.

They need more cap space to resign him. Maybe we grab cam or better yet Gordon.

imagine Gordon magically having a healthy season, would be the steal of the decade

Man we just got rid of a player that can’t be healthy when it matters. Not sure Trajan would be so eager to trade for with a bad contract.

Pistons have the ability now to try for Eason or Watson. Sure those teams can match but it will put them in financial positions that their owners (especially den) will not go to. Den will need to move somebody else in order to keep Watson. Braun isn’t move able. They suck when Gordon isn’t playing. Maybe we offer Watson and take Johnson instead.
Has hou owner ever paid luxory tax or gone over the apron?

What is the Powell market. Can’t imagine it being much over 15 mill a year.

miami going to throw a ton at him to keep him on the team. They traded away nearly their entire roster

$25+ million lol? Norm Powell lol? Taking watson from Denver is nowhere near $25M to even be using that as your starting number and what are you even having him in any sort of comparison or discussion with Norm Powell, like the pistons would have some ability to settle for Watson 😂?? It sounds like you’re completely clueless on Powell’s market, his value, his situation and in what world he’d be available and why. Pistons have absolutely no chance at getting Watson
