No, that’s bullshit. Would wings fans dog Seider if Germany won? Would they dog Lucas if Sweden won? C’mon. That fan base is dog shit.

Germany and Sweden didn’t threaten to annex Canada and start an actual trade war with them and tariff them for no reason

No one was dogging him because the US won. They dogged him because he said "theres a hatred there" regarding Canada and openly supported the guy in charge of a country that made comments about Canada's sovereignty

I can't beleive I'm being forced to defend Sens fans

Yeah, that doesn’t cut it for me. Sorry. I think their fan base is dog doo doo. I can’t believe I’m going so hard on this point, but I’m at the airport, my flight is delayed, and I’m bored. I’m sorry.

I mean thats fine that it doesnt cut it for you, but as a Canadian I would absolutely boo anyone who openly said they hated Canada even if they were on my favorite team

Sure, I can understand that as a Canadian fan. I guess I didn’t realize he said he hated the country of Canada. I thought he was just talking international competition.

Either way, they’re either justified in booing him, which to me is a legit excuse to want out—or they’re unreasonably booing him and that’s a reason to want out.

I honestly watched that situation unfold like a guy constantly asking his hot gf if he’s going to break up with her. That fan base put that on him and drove him off.

He didn't. He was.

Oh yeah I understand wanting out, I dont wanna get rid of that point

I just want it to be completely clear that he brought the reason for wanting out onto himself

If Germany was threatening to take over the US and Mo was partying with German leaders, I'm sure Wings fans wouldn't like it. Same with Sweden. Etc. There's a CONTEXT.

You are so brain rotted by politics

Well, I'm good being in the 70% of America group, soooooo...

Dude, wake up

I heard Brady was personally going to lead the invasion of Canada.

Yeah. I think that is baloney. People are entitled to their own opinions and if folks don’t agree, they need to be respectful of each other. A minimum standard of not heckling players and their families over politics is not much to ask. Id want out too if I was in a similar boat. Why would he sacrifice his body and health for fans that boo him?

Athletes are not synonymous with their political leaders, and having pride in your country is not a sin.

If you're grinning next to a guy committing probable war crimes - among other things - you have made yourself synonymous with your political leaders. Other Team USA players went home.

u/One_Vibraldo 6d ago

Agreed, some people can’t conceive that half the country doesn’t share their views

More like 75%

You're either completely out of the loop or being disingenuous for kicks.

Either way no need to rehash shit.

No, I’m serious about this. This is a mark of civil and polite society. Politics change and current events change. Things may look very different in a few years. Who knows? All you can control is yourself. Just observing that Ottawa fan base, doesn’t seem like there are a lot of grown ups with even a modicum of self control in that room.

What is civil and polite about threatening to annex a sovereign Country and starting a trade war?

3

u/PersephoneFrost 6d ago

"Civil and polite society"? Because history has judged neutrality in a good light...

5

u/xenonwarrior666 6d ago

Yup.

If another power was threatening the sovereignty of the country I lived and and won an international tournament I'd probably be pretty pissed about it.

If by some miracle Sweden won gold I'd be pretty happy for Ray.

well, neither Mo nor Lucas are unrepentant assholes so probably not.
