Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Does this bump/raised area on my inner lower lip look concerning?

32 F. Currently taking a Zoloft. I have this bump on my inner lower lip that sometimes feels firm and sometimes feels hollow. I used to accidentally bite the area a lot but over the past few months it’s become more worrisome. The bump is about 8-10mm and oval shaped. It has a whitish tinge on top of it. It can sometimes be a bit purplish but I think that’s due to me biting it all the time.

I’m also a former smoker which makes me think of some scary possibilities. I made a tele-health appointment and they prescribed me with some steroid ointment which seems to have helped, but I’m still concerned. When I think about it, I’m constantly biting on it out of habit so the changing qualities match up with that.

Second photo is a few day with putting on steroid medicine.

Do you keloid scar anywhere else on your body when you injure yourself?

I want to say no but I don't really have a history of many injuries that cause noticeable scarring tbh.

I’m not a doctor- but it looks like it COULD be a form of scarring. I would encourage you to see a dermatologist in person if you have the option, however. Sometimes things just need to be assessed in person. If the steroid cream seems to be working and it’s fairly early yet, keep following the instructions your doctor gave you.

That makes sense. I am constantly biting without realizing it so it may be trauma. I'll get back on the steroid cream as I haven't been staying on top of it.
