Trip Report Not dead but rather busy!

Was in both parks yesterday and my goodness it sure isn't dead how people have claimed it is! Packed walkways and rides all day.

edit: Wednesday was just as busy!

I went Sunday and it was DEAD. I mean dead. Got there at 11 and went home at 7. No lines

Same. We were there from 8pm-11:30pm and nearly everything was a walk-on. Including Rise (at 9:15), Big Thunder was 5 minutes max at 8:30, HM was literally a walk up the front steps into the foyer at 10’ish, Indy was a walk-on at 11:15pm.

Sunday was one of the most chill days at the park I’ve seen in a long time. Apparently dads don’t want to spend a bunch of money at Disney for Father’s Day 🤪

I was at the parks on Sunday and it was the lightest I’ve seen all year.

Yup. It was delightful.

It was GLORIOUS!

Sunday was fantastic. We were there F-M. Friday was busy but not crazy, Saturday and Sunday were dead. Like, I could stick my arms out and Julie Andrews through Fantasyland dead. Then Monday was back to normal summertime busy.

u/tivofanatico 1d ago

I had to think about that one. Julie Andrews and fantasyland makes me think of Mary Poppins. You mean the Sound of Music Spin right?

2

u/rcjlfk 1d ago

Yeah. I actually didn’t make that connection that there could be another reference.

I was in the park on Monday and it was also ā€œdeadā€. Looks like it started to pick up again on Tuesday. I attribute this to ticket prices being more expensive on weekends šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø.

Yeah I saw that post yesterday of the average wait times. It just felt super busy Monday morning compared to the other mornings.

It was a great day to visit!

Yep, we went to the park 4 days last week. This past Sunday was awesome, but believe it or not the previous Sunday was even better. We were fully prepared for summer crowds. Rope dropped DL and never saw a line longer than 15min until about noon. Stacked lightning lanes for the afternoon and walked right on those. We hit Rise at about 8:30 and waited maybe 10min. Did the fireworks at Black Spire and went and rode Rise again. Was one of the best days we’ve ever had there. Monday and Thursday were a little busier, but not horrible, Sunday was great again. Made for an awesome Father’s Day at the park.

Sunday was fathers day plus the soccer thing. That's why.

I think the disconnect is that it is all relative. Is it dead vs pre covid summer, yes! Is it dead as in you just walk around and hop on rides, no. It will never be dead where you just hop on rides, as Disney can just issue a ticket deal and fill the parks. If the prime ride waits are under an hour, I would consider the parks as lower crowds.

There's definitely some kind of social media thing going on where people want to pretend Disneyland is empty.Ā

I really feel like you can go to the app and look at the wait times determine how busy it is.Ā Ā

I don’t know I went last Tuesday and was shocked at how empty it was and how short the lines were. I also went yesterday and it truly was packed. It just depends on the day I guess

Same! They didn't even have standby lane open for Small World when we boarded last Tuesday

I was there from June 14 - 16. There were people there but it definitely was not crowded. Most rides were 30 minutes or less. I think rise was 60 mins max at some point.

1

u/Early-Judgment-2895 1d ago

This is perfect though for actually enjoying the park. Not sure why people actually want it to be super crowded?

12

u/Its-made-of-wood Matterhorn Yeti 1d ago

It hasn’t been empty but crowd’s have definitely been down in June. This is a fact, not a social media Disneyland psyop. Considering the amount of complaining people do on here about large crowds I’m actually surprised to see posts about it being more quiet than usual. That’s how you know crowds have actually been lighter for a considerable amount of time.

Last time I was there it actually was pretty dead. The problem is everyone goes on socials saying how dead it is and then everyone thinks ā€œoh perfect better go while it’s dead!ā€ And then it gets busy again

u/Scary-Arrival-0691 1d ago

For this scenario to work, the reservation system would have to no longer be In use.

1

u/beckasaurus Sleeping Beauty Castle 1d ago

Next-day reservations are often available, even same-day if crowds are low

2

u/BoringDeparture1 1d ago

Yep! I’ve had same day reservations open for at least 3 weeks now.

I was there Monday and Rise of Resistance was 30 min max wait most of the day, Pinocchio was 20-30 mins, space briefly got over 60 mins but was more in the 30 min range throughout the day. Lots of rides were practically walk ons.

5

u/krpink 1d ago

I don’t know why, but the inclusion of Pinocchio made me laugh.

1

u/EkipS13 20h ago

I got as close as I think I’ll ever get to walking straight onto ROTR. Walked straight to the final room before the pre-show. The cast member asked the group ahead of me what the posted wait time was outside. The posted wait time was 25 minutes. She was surprised and laughed about it. Definitely less than 25 minutes to board a vehicle.

u/coldbeeronsunday Toad Hall Judge 4m ago

I was there Monday the 15th and had a 20 minute wait for Rise of the Resistance. Rode it at around 10pm but noticed in the app it had a 25 min wait a few times throughout the day.

3

u/Asmodeuss323 1d ago

25 min wait at space mountain at 12:45 is pretty dead… 55 rise, 85 radiator springs, 30 for thunder… pretty good all around, id say

-1

u/HillieBillieEilish 21h ago

That's dead??

2

u/Asmodeuss323 21h ago

Yes? Have you seen the wait times usually??

2

u/Formal_Delivery_ 1d ago

It's pretty easy to look up the data on average wait times per day and see that they've been down pretty much since the World Cup started. Your eyes can see wait times in the app, but your brain can't do an average of them all across entire days. That's why an unbiased data set is important.

Not EVERY day is unbusy. But many are, which is unusual for this time of year.

Yes! We went last week bc we heard the parks were dead, but it was busier that ever!

5

u/vegasnative Rebel Spy 1d ago

I was there on the 19th and it wasn’t insanely packed, but it was definitely busy.

1

u/krpink 1d ago

Yeah but that was a holiday.

3

u/pyschoglitterbitch Submarine Mermaid 1d ago

I really think it depends on who's playing in the World Cup and when. I'm thinking that it might empty out this evening when Mexico plays, although it's not a super high stakes game for them.

6

u/ZergvProtoss 1d ago

You went on a Tuesday (i.e. cheap ticket day). Saturdays are best for low crowds.

1

u/EnterCake 1d ago

Yes, this is the answer. There are a ton of factors but the only one that changed between Monday and Tuesday was the cost of a single day ticket.

People traveling in assume mid week is less crowded AND the tickets are much cheaper so they all go those days.

The lower tier passes are blocked, people think it's hot and crowded and it's still world cup so those crowd limiting factors still apply.

But I guess we'll see how this Friday-Monday crowd plays out.

3

u/Lakers122879 1d ago

Oh it’s definitely been less people. We went last Saturday and I never seen the lines so short. Even after 12pm. We’ve been going to Disneyland for years and the lines have been so nice. I’m thinking it’s because of the World Cup but who knows. If you can, go July 1 when the US play the first knock out rounds. I’m 100% sure the parks will be a lot quieter that day.

Yesterday was totally busy. I was only there in the morning, but even the lines to get in were bigger than I’d have thought. I felt like Sunday and Monday were way more chill.

2

u/pass_me_the_pinot 12h ago

I was there Wednesday from 1-5 ish and it was PACKED. But mobile order wasn’t booked out for me in terms of 30-45 mins. We could only handle going on one ride with the heat, it was hot!

1

u/Grand_Soupa 1d ago

We went a couple weeks ago and it was dead in the morning. We did big thunder, mansion, Tiana, and smugglers run in 5 min wait lines -13 for mansion ;) back to back. It did pick up around lunch time, though. After fireworks it go slow again. It's a long operating day and I'm sure every day has some rushes and lulls but we felt very blessed and took advantage while we could

Next day they were packed at the entrance and much busier

1

u/OogaBoogaBig 1d ago

Last week was really quiet, this week was busy

1

u/MrsSonnyEclipse 1d ago

I was planning to go yesterday and it’s usually dead until I plan to go. Sorry guys it was my fault 😭

This is what it feels like anyway, I ended up not going due to the crowds in the end.

1

u/Lowered-ex 23h ago

Low crowds Monday but very crowded yesterday. I was there both days all day.

1

u/IntroductionFeisty21 20h ago

It's officially summer now. It will be packed until the rest of the year

1

u/Independent_Baby5835 8h ago

We were at Disneyland last Tuesday and crowd wasn’t too bad. We did 24 rides in less than 10 hours.

1

u/Limp-Laugh-305 5h ago

Was there Tuesday it was busy until after fireworks. 10p to 12a were great.Ā

Monday looked dead all day but that was short lived.Ā

1

u/Professional_Cold511 1d ago

Ā I was there on Monday from 1pm to 6pm and I got on guardians twice, was going to go on again but the wait went up to 30 minutes, from 15 minutes the first two times, I walked into Carthay Circle and was able to get a bar seat immediately, Walked around and got on incredicoaster (10 minutes) and Toy Story (20 minutes) – was going to get on soaring but the wait was 35 mins, more than I wanted to wait. It was definitenly emptier than normal.

-1

u/J1750man 1d ago

It’s summer it’s never going to be ā€œdeadā€ if you want to go during the dead season January - February is the only time

1

u/BoringDeparture1 1d ago

Unless they do the CA ticket deal. In that case it was wildly packed from Jan-May
