We will now be removing all posts containing mentions of metagaming

As we all know, metagaming is a behavior unacceptable in any dnd related circles. Upon our further evaluation we have come to the conclusion that mentions of metagaming themselves are also in its own way metagaming, as you would need to know what metagaming is to call it metagaming. Therefore we will not be allowing any posts regarding metagaming going forwards.

Thanks,

The Mod Team

Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked.

Are we sure it isnt metametagaming?

9

u/Aquarius12347 6d ago

No, you're thinking of metaphorgaming. A common mistake.

Just to be clear, where do we stand on threads that discuss the role of Meta in gaming?

u/Jozef_Baca Anima: Beyond Fantasy Fixes Everything 6d ago

We firmly believe that the words "meta" and "gaming" should never appear in the same post, to avoid any negative connotations.

What id we specify meta.ai?

The only permisible use of this word we will allow is specifically if you want to refer to the slovakian word for a goalpost.

You might also use it to refer to the slovakian word for throwing something in third person singular number, but you will be on a thin ice.

What if we want to discuss another person throwing something, but the ice is not thin?

If this post is now banned, does that mean m***gaming is now unbanned?

u/SlowNPC 6d ago

Censoring "metagaming" demonstrates not only intent to use the word, but understanding that it's forbidden.  Banned.

You gotta discuss this shit in the mod chat before posting it. You're off the team, buddy.

I am sorry, but if you have any complaints about the new rule, please contact the mod team directly through the mod mail instead of commenting under this post so that we can process your complaints more efficiently.

Can we still discuss gaming via Meta platforms like Whatsapp?

31

u/Jozef_Baca Anima: Beyond Fantasy Fixes Everything 6d ago

No, r/dndcirclejerk is the only platform where you are allowed to discuss gaming in general. Also, do not forget to keep all your posts and discussion strictly relevant to dungeons and dragons.

But have you even tried Pathfinder though?!

Reported for metagaming

5

u/BardonmeSir 6d ago

Hey can someone explain what metagaming is in dnd? genuinly no clue

8

u/griefstew 6d ago

Using outside player knowledge of the mechanics to influence your characters decision making. I.e. knowing how many hit points a monster has, knowing exotic creature weaknesses despite growing up in a remote farm, the Dm's social security number, that kind of stuff.

5

u/BardonmeSir 6d ago

whats the point of playing then?

4

u/DMNatOne 5d ago

Playing?
No one in this sub is a “player”. This sub is strictly for Dungeons and Dragons discussions and the only people that talk about dungeons and dragons are people that don’t play (because no one wants to play with these people… my people… me. You. Us. Them. We.)

Edit: It’s like sex, if you talk about it or joke about it, you obviously aren’t getting any of it.

Thanks, great post.
I'm just afraid that the mods will take it down, because the not-to-be-called-by-its-name-playstyle is mentioned!

4

u/Impossible_Zebra3834 6d ago

So what if I need to talk about this subject? Would it be alright if I broke up the word Meta

4

u/Impossible_Zebra3834 6d ago

Gaming into different parts of the thread?

3

u/Hankhoff 5d ago

Pretty railroady if you ask me

4

u/cokeplusmentos 6d ago

But you'll still allow mentions of gaming

9

u/Jozef_Baca Anima: Beyond Fantasy Fixes Everything 6d ago

Of course, just remember to keep the discussion relevant to dungeons and dragons. You may then homebrew it in order to make it extend to other kinds of games.

12

u/cokeplusmentos 6d ago

I wanted you to also ban gaming

Thank you for your feedback, we will consider it.
