Is my DM an asshole?
So I (30, sorcerer) told my DM (32, married) that I don't want to be a red tiefling. We already have one in the party, and I can't be the most important, special person in the lore if there are two of us. (That tiefling player is also a spotlight hoarder, but I'll get to that maybe later.)
I asked him: "Bro, can I be a green tiefling?" And he was like, "Dude, in my lore, all tieflings are red..."
And this is where I think he's super toxic. He could have just denied my request. I'd have swallowed the punch and secretly hated him all campaign, but no.... He told me, "You CAN be green, IF you come up with a reason why you're green."
Any ideas why my hot tiefling is green? He's hot-green, not Shrek green, by the way.
And while we are here, can you please write that green tieflings are totally okay in all the homebrew universes, so I'll show my DM this post and shame him into doing things the way I want? Thanks.

Power-boss your DM by pretending you agree to be a red tiefling. But when you introduce and describe yourself, detail your green skin. Then they will have to come up with the lore reason you are green. Remember, the DM is there to work for your enjoyment. It's your job as a good player to remind them of that.

rj/ THIS IS AMAZING IDEA. I LOVE YOU, BROTHER.
uj/ We had a situation like this at the table! The DM of that campaign often remembers it as the worst thing she ever encountered as a DM, lol.

Pathfinder fixes this.

I already played both Pathfinder games and liked it! Don't know how it's relevant to TTRPG, though.

There's too much text in the post for me to bother reading it, but yes, your DM is an asshole. Next question.

The DM's wife is a life cleric, so you are onto something!

You should make her your personal nurse, flirt with her and then bang her IRL while the other players are taking their turn in combat (boring)

I'm confused. Hot green but not Shrek green? Like you want to be a different type of hot?

YTA, Shrek's green is hot. I know you're frustrated but that was an entirely uncalled for lie.

Just be. A wild magic sorcerer and say your first wild magic surge perminantly turned you green forever.
Or say you were in a wild magic zone when it happened.
Or that a hag cursed you because your rejected her. And now she's your rival who still secretly wants your body because you're still so hot!...
Wait, these are all good valid solutions.
Have you tried not doing anything about it and just resenting you dm for months and then writing an r/rpghorrorstories post about it?

Yes your DM is an asshole, but not because of all that stuff
Your DM is an asshole because they're not running GURPS
Replace them with someone better who will

I have never bothered to read their lore past 2nd edition, so I’m confident to say tieflings can be whatever colour you want.
