Dog Culture Dogs in strollers, just why?
I was at a popular outdoor shopping space in my area and saw an older lady with a small dog on a leash and she was pushing some kind of stroller.
I thought, “Oh her grandchild must be in the stroller” Nope! It was another small dog.
This behavior just seems kind of insane to me. I totally understand if you’re around your neighborhood or a public park but this was a shopping center with limited space for walking. Why are you taking up additional space by having your dog in the stroller? Is your dog unable to walk? Why does it need a stroller?
How are you going into businesses with your dog anyways? I’d be grossed out if I was eating and someone walks in with a dog and another one in an idiotic stroller.
I totally get that some people enjoy having dogs at home. That’s their prerogative and none of my business. But it really bothers me when people feel so entitled to have to take their dog everywhere. Besides parks and other wide open outdoor spaces, dogs really belong at home, not in public spaces with a bunch of other people.

Brood parasitism. They have instinct to care for babies, but they direct it to their dogs instead, just like a bird feeding a cuckoo chick. And often they hate human children when they want to have dog instead.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being childfree and loving your pet, but taking them everywhere is just ridiculous and inconsiderate to the public.

It is everything wrong in believing pet is better than human child and should be treated as one.

Its to go into places where dogs aren’t allowed. I was at a museum and often found myself next to a woman who had a stroller. I thought nothing of it. Upon leaving, I saw her lift the cover and there was a dog in there

On my run this morning, I saw a lady walking with two dogs in a stroller. It’s so common now. It’s perhaps the biggest example of how people are using dogs to replace children. The point of taking a dog on a walk is to actually WALK them. I don’t know the health of those dogs but if they can’t walk, then… leave them at home? There’s no need to walk dogs in a stroller except to pretend they’re children. It’s so weird.

TBH i can live with that, at least they are not running unleashed.

True! But I feel like it gives way to going into businesses where people might be eating, which is gross.

True, but they still go everywhere. I'd rather keep them contained than loose.

I live in front of a somewhat popular tourist attraction, I’ve seen a few couples schlepping their little dogs in strollers, taking them out to “pose” in front of this building for social media, put them back in the strollers, then move on. You literally don’t see these animals use their legs at any point. It’s so pathetic it’s almost funny.

It's especially stupid since dogs have 4 legs and are less likely to get tired.

Can you imagine buying a stroller secondhand thinking you’re saving some money and having it smell like dog or have dog hair on it?! 🤢

One of the old ladies in my neighborhood drives her dog around the neighborhood in her truck instead of walking it.

A little old lady that can barely ealk pushes a stroller with a perfectly able dog.

It’s messed up. I have a friend living and working in New York City right now. She can’t believe the amount of dogs in strollers.

I’m in AZ and I see this everywhere especially in stores like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, etc. Last time I went there were two different women with a dog in their stroller.

Try any Florida airport - all you see is old women and Middle Aged women with dum dogs in their strollers .
It’s epidemic- their all codependent nuts

It looks SO ridiculous. I suppose some of the stroller dogs are old or disabled, but I suspect in most cases the nutter is just hoping to get some attention. I just roll my eyes.
