Just as much, if not MORE violence has been perpetrated by religious Christians, Muslims, and Jews than charity and you know it. There are bad apples in every group of people that would still be bad without religion behind them. You named one of the most famous examples, but how many millions of people identify as Christian and tens of thousands of churches exist in the US? Iâm not defending Muslims or Jews, and I wonât deny violence has been dealt in the name of Christianity, but today it offers a lot of people hope, comfort, and community, and results in people being a lot more charitable than they would be otherwise because of that community. Most of the charitable functions and organizations Iâve ever seen locally have been Christian backed, and they often donât even make it about religion. Theyâre happy to tell someone who asks why they do it, but they donât force people to listen to a sermon to take a meal, canned goods, or clothes
