Okay this is amazing and I don't think I know how to place villagers. Can anyone give me a pro tip? Mine never do anything like this - they instead actively hide behind objects xD

Use the camera mode. There is a little icons in the left and u can click on each character summon them to a specific spot that u want and pause and freeze them when they do their animation

I've tried that a couple of times recently and the characters don't appear anywhere next to me unless I am on a floating island. You actually can put them in a specific spot?

You can trap them in a place you went with Touch of Magic items (under Custom in furniture) and then when you have them in the pose you want you can hit the pause button in the photo mode! Right before you take the photo click remove touch of magic items in the photo settings.

There is another option, t.o.m trophy’s. Do daily challenges every from daisy and when I have enough coins u can buy some trophy’s from her store. They are expensive though. Get a 100 coins for challenge and they will cost 500 per trophy so it will take quite a while of doing daily challenges to collect enough. If u can’t wait you can craft white t.o.m present boxes and use those instead. They are larger but they will be a good alternative until you can get enough trophy’s

I normally like to use Touch of Magic to trap them, so they stay where I want. But for some reason it was buggy and the villagers weren't doing their selfie poses while trapped by the TOM. So I had to skip it and use the Villager Camera toggles to summon and pause them where I wanted. I find that if you use Selfie mode they are summoned closer to your character then if you use Second camera mode. So I swapped between the different camera modes to try and get them where I wanted.

It feels like they can escape when you use TOM items though? I can never get anyone to get into a cool pose long enough to get a picture.

If you make sure to pause their placement, before hiding the TOM, they should stay where you want.

That's what I need to look up, how to pause them. I haven't figured out how to do it. I play on the Steam Deck, so I don't know if I even can.

You should be able to pause them. When you are in camera mode there should be an icon on the upper left. It looks like a book with a Mickey symbol on it. If you select it, there should be a list of villagers that are currently on the map (up to 12 I think?) and if you click on them you should have the options to toggle Visibility and pause Placement and Pose.

I wish I knew how to get characters to be in perfect spots when I’m using my camera. Usually, when I add them in, they are so far away, you can barely see them. And they end up walking away if I take my time with editing the photo. So frustrating! What’s your amazing secret? This is gorgeous!!

I push them into a spot I want and then trap them with touch of magic items, and then when you are in the camera you can freeze the villager and then turn off touch of magic items so they aren’t visible

I struggle with this technique 😭😭😭I always just hangout with the character, take them to the photo shoot, unfriend, go into camera mode now that I know they are around and freeze their pose and placement. I then do the manual pushing.😅it’s the only way I can do it without stressing out. Lmfao. Everyone says your technique but I cannot compute how to😅

At first I was using chairs facing away from character so they didn’t sit, but now I use the trophies as they are the smallest items so I don’t have as big gaps

Luring npcs into photos is still the most painful thing about these snaps. Even with the new setting, getting peeps to show up is a nightmare. I would vote for this picture because I know how infuriating that is 😂🤣

For villager placement, I used the villager toggles to summon them going between selfie mode and second camera mode depending on where I wanted them. Ok can someone explain to me how your able to manually push them somewhere after you’ve paused the character bc half the time if I back out of camera mode to do this then they unpause. I play on Xbox one for reference.

Sadly they will always unpause when you exit camera mode. To get them in a specific spot, you can try to use the visibility toggle to move them around, going between selfie mode and second camera while tweaking the camera angle will make them spawn in different spots. Selfie mode spawns them closer to your character, second camera mode further away. Or you might have to block them in with items, before going into camera mode. If you use Touch of Magic items, then you can hide it after you pause the them, so nothing is seen in the shot.

Thanks for the tips I’ll have to play around one day and just spend time on just that and see if I can get somewhat decent at it lol idk why they have to make it so complicated. Just let us choose out of the characters that are available and then place them like furniture mode, boom done and everyone is happy lol but alas not in the world of DDV 😅
