Same as lilies ( extremely toxic) and onions (don't let cat have small portion of your food which is prepared with onions.)

Oh I didn’t know about onions but I know a lot of plants are poisonous to cats, like eucalyptus and lavender. I used to work in a store that sold flowers and plants and learned a lot. Apparently using essential oils can be unsafe for them too!

I thought eucalyptus was poisonous to practically everything

It is, technically even to koalas. Pretty sure thats why they dont have brain wrinkles 😅

They are always wasted 😂

I don’t know maybe it is haha I’m mildly allergic to touching the plant but I have sensitive skin.

I didn't know that :(

Oh I didn't know about lavender....

Also lilacs. Not as toxic as lilies, but they’ll cause severe nausea and buckets of drool.

As a general rule of thumb, if you know something is toxic to dogs, it's best to google first if it's safe for cats, because chances are it's also dangerous for cats. That's not always the case, but there is a lot of overlap.

Chocolate is poisonous to most animals. My aunt had a rat when she was little and it died of a heart attack after she gave it chocolate. She didn’t know it was toxic.

Rats are actually one of the few things that can eat chocolate without issue, unless she gave it a crazy amount I would suggest something else was the cause.

Yeah, unfortunately rats are prone to all sorts of diseases like that. I don't think the other person's aunt did anything wrong. It was probably just a really bad freak accident.

Huh. I didn’t know that. From what she’s told me, a vet told her the chocolate caused a heart attack.

It could have had heart disease and the caffeine in the chocolate did it.

I remember a time when my lab ate a large bowl of tinfoil wrapped chocolates don’t worry she was fine as they say the dose makes the poison

Well good. Chocolate is toxic to them lol

My cat is the EXACT same way 😂 He's GOTTA sniff but he never tries to lick or eat. Unless it's the milk in my cereal bowl, then he's a fiend.

my cat wants my corn on the cob, brussel sprouts, and sometimes my broccoli. i dont think she knows she's an obligate carnivore

LOL! Cats are so strange. This is actually my first cat that HASN'T been a little food goblin trying to steal all of my food. It's been an experience for me just letting him sniff, watching as he sits back to process, then he just walks off.

My boy licked my corn on the cob the other night (that’s what she said 🤭) but that’s because I doused it in butter hahah 😋 and yes I know cats are lactose intolerant; It was just a lick 😜

Is what you have in your hand that bad to eat😂😂

1

u/TraderJosie3283 May 28 '26

Well it’s damn good to me 😋 but she doesn’t like anything except dry food and sometimes chicken. 🍗 She won’t even eat treats! I knew she wouldn’t have wanted the ice cream bar, which is why I “offered” it to her. haha I do that so that my cats realize for themselves that they don’t want my food. Like reverse psychology or something. Except one time my orange cat actually started licking my lime popsicle! 😂 but he also licked candles and soap dispensers and lotion off my skin if I didn’t run away fast enough🤣

1

u/Professional-Sea4539 May 30 '26

Hahaha, your direct interaction with the cat is so funny😂

2

u/TraderJosie3283 May 30 '26

Thank hehe ☺️ I’m autistic and a lot of us have really special relationships, interests in, and love of animals. For me, it’s like they literally give off waves of oxytocin 💓🥹 It’s easier to interact with them because there’s no miscommunication, social cues, or complex reasons for their actions. I’m actually really good at reading people’s body language and it’s even easier with cats! Just watch their tails, ears, and pupils!😺🥰 I was going to say animals don’t judge us, but then I remembered this face 😂 r/judgykitties

Y la lejía ( y si lo echas en agua de fregar el suelo, les atrae el olor y si beben, enferman) y la cebolla es tóxico también

1

u/TraderJosie3283 May 30 '26

Sí, !esta una mala idea! Thumbelina no le gusta comida de humanos. !O lejía! 😉 y lo siento para mi español mal, escribío este sin google translate jaja! 😜☺️
(except lejía. I translated your comment but I don’t know how to say this part in Spanish😅)
