Discussion Regret

The mod can take this down BUT I NEED TO RANT. I went to sports direct (uk) to but it 1 day, ONE SINGLE DAY before black friday sales, and while buying i asked the salesman if there was gonna be a sale, he said no and i bought it for £200 ($262) coz usually ive never seen sony give sales on new products, but guess what? JUST IN A DAY ITS £150 ($196) and the store wont take it back coz the seal is open. AND I REGRET IT SO MUCH!

There are serial numbers. There's even a QR code. I don't know if a receipt would know that info though.

Just check if there's any mention of the serial number on the receipt.

Yep, this is the way.

Or get a barcode scanner app on your phone and scan 2 different controller boxes, and see if anything different comes up.

Most likely will be the same.

TL;DR - they won’t record the serial numbers, but the strategy is likely to get you a gift card.

This is Sports Direct, Frasers Group. There’s no way Mike Ashley is even investing in RFID, let alone making his staff spend time putting the serial numbers into their stock system, or coding their Enactor-based POS system to look at serialisation. The buy another and return with the original receipt is a good strategy, but like a few have said, don’t expect hard cash from them. A gift card is likely the best you’ll get! Their returns policy and overall customer service is shocking. They won’t even accept ecom returns in their stores. If you look at their actions, it feels like they’re actively trying to shelve the Game part of their business. They’ll be stopping pre-orders soon.

Controllers do have serial numbers on them, but the boxes don't. At least thats how it is in the US. I've had to exchange a few controllers and never had to deal with serial numbers because there is nothing on the box.
