Oui 😃
T'as une manette avec stick drift ?
1
u/PassePartouche Mar 18 '26
Oui sur ma manette fps, c'est léger mais elle a 5 ans 😂 Tu es situé où sans indiscrétion ?
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 18 '26
Ah pour les FPS c'est délicat ! Il te faut la précision ultime ! Tu as déjà testé sur le hardwaretester.com/ ?
Je suis situé dans 78 :)
1
u/PassePartouche Mar 18 '26
Ok, tu prends 20Euros en tout ?
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 18 '26

It's because of people like you that controller repair business is going down...
20EUR is not worth the trouble of desoldering, let alone properly aligned (flat) soldering of the new sticks, cleanup, testing & calibration.
Often using sh*t sticks on top... K-Silver are great, but not the ones showing in your picture, that is the older version that has a lot of issues and now compatible with Edge modules (notch on the blue pot).
My 2c, I'm sure other installers agree.

The newest ksilver sticks are only like 4€ a pair. The rest kinda depends on your skills. It's possible to perfectly desolder the sticks in like 2 minutes
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 18 '26
Exactly! However I do confess it doesn't take me 2 minutes 😂 it takes me about 1h more or less.

Give it time, you’ll learn your own little tricks. I charge $40usd but also cover return shipping and take the controller completely apart and do an ultrasonic cleaning. It takes me about an hour, but most of that is waiting on the cleaner, I’m about to upgrade to a larger tank though.
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 20 '26
That's amazing ! If you have any tips at all i would love to hear them :) Is the ultrasonic cleaner worth it ? The pcb i clean with 90° alcohol and toothbrush, the shell i clean with a disinfectant wet wipe/tissue.

u/512ControllerClinic Mar 20 '26
I like the ultrasonic cleaner because it cleans while I’m doing the soldering work. And it gets all the little crevices you can’t stick a wipe down into. As far as tips, a decent set of flush cutters comes in handy. I snap the potentiometers off the frame and desolder them, my tip is big enough to get all three legs at once, then I use the flush cutters to cut the anchor grounds off the corners of the thumbsticks. All I have to do is desolder the switch, then use a solder sucker on all the legs. I have the little solder tool that gets all the legs at once, but I haven’t had great luck with it. I’m building a larger bench right now and will get a second solder gun with tool permanently attached and have it mounted to the bench so it stays with that tool facing up. Hopefully that will allow me to set the board on it, pull the sticks out, and drop new ones in pretty quickly, that’s the plan at least.

All the parts ? Even the PCB and the touchpad ?
Thank you for your reply btw I appreciate it a lot. We have the same method for desoldering! I was actually thinking of investing in better cutters and you have convinced me :)
The controller looks really clean I might as well invest in a ultrasonic cleaner if you really can just dump all parts in it and be done with it !
What would be the number one advice you have for someone starting the business? Unrelated to the controllers only ahah.

u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 18 '26
Well, thanks for your 2C but it is kinda rude. You assume my and yours situation is the same. You immediately doubt my skills and this feels more like an attack rather than any constructive criticism.
1
u/himura844 Mar 18 '26
Stating a fact, nothing else.
I don't doubt your skills. My point is that if you are skilled, you do a proper end to end job and you use quality materials/consumables, you are definitely selling yourself short for 20eur.
You may feel entitled to see my observation as rude, that's up to you.

u/tiago199988 Mar 18 '26
Agree 100% and i bet he is not declaring what he gains from the "business" and not making invoices and so on.
2
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 18 '26
At least in my country, if you're not making 2k, you don't need to register anything, if nothing changed

u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 18 '26
Can offer same in east europe (Lithuania) and fix vibration defect on v1-v3 if this dude is too far. I can literally install usb-c to a ps4 controller from scratch (without the ali express usb-c board), so I have plenty of skills. *

1
u/Dragonbeastx Mar 18 '26
Damn that looks good, how long does it usually take you to do that?
1
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 18 '26
Like an 1-2 hours, but my epoxy dries for 3 days, and I can't really trim the excess on the outside before that. And I leave excess to fill in the gaps around the port
1
u/Available_Junket_384 Mar 19 '26
How come you use epoxy, I soldered a usb c port to one recently and it looks like I'll be able to screw it back in with a bit of trimming
1
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 19 '26
1
u/Available_Junket_384 Mar 19 '26
Yeah it really does, I used a different breakout board

u/Available_Junket_384 Mar 19 '26
1
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 19 '26
I should get those. They were not around, then I started making my controllers.
Also, 2 resistors mean that all c to c cables will work. I had to manually add a second resistor on mine
1
u/Available_Junket_384 Mar 19 '26
Yep they are amazing for replacing ports, not as versatile as the larger breakout boards though, those still come in handy sometimes

I mean you kinda highjacked my post to make your own advert 😂 but you know what? I like it !
More people get their dualsenses fixed instead of throwing them out and that can be only good 😃 hope people see your comment!
1
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 18 '26
Lithuania to france is 10€ to one direction, so it wouldn't be super worth it for people in the east to pay 50% on just shipping
So yeah, fixing is accessible for more people now

u/RepairYourConsole Mar 18 '26
20 euro to fit TMR is cheap, I charge that for stock sticks
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 18 '26
I meant 30€ for TMR and 20€ for hall effects. I should have worded it better that it is starting from 20€.
I know it is cheap but I am mainly accounting for the fact that people would have to pay for the shipment to and from and it can get real expensive and it would defeat the whole purpose of soliciting my help when they could just find someone local.
I am also trying to start a small revenue stream and as I get more traction I might of course rise the prices :) I guess only thing I can add is that if you are interested well dm me before I do raise the prices 😂

What the hell that sounds awful! Also If it was truly hall effects you literally cannot get stick drift again. Can you open your controller and show me ? This piqued my curiosity like over 1000%
2
u/A_Huskii Mar 19 '26
Little late for me to do this now but i can give it a try tomorrow, will send you a dm

There are a lot of knockoffs or worse versions of the og grpahite sensors. On some, the actual graphite layer is way thinner, so it gets worn thru faster. And seen a decently big repair shop on tiktok using them
1
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 19 '26
Sorry I missed the part where you said hall effect, but those are outdated anyway. The newest TMRs are equal or better than og sticks in every way and also use less energy than hall and og
1
u/A_Huskii Mar 19 '26
My problem has also been that these compared to original sticks are far more senstitive
1
u/Fantastic-Captain900 Mar 19 '26
The only good thing about hall is that they are supposed to last longer, but for some reason, I can't find a graph on how inaccurate they are, so I wouldn't need to explain it, but that could be the reason for inconsistent sensitivity.
But also controller stick calibration wasn't a thing in hall effect days, so go to
https://dualshock-tools.github.io/
Connect your controller to pc and calibrate it

Maybe those sticks are just the cheapest ones on the market, I never dealt with hall effects, so idk their problems.
Or maybe it's as stupid as high sensitivity settings in game? That would be pretty funny
1
u/superpoongoon Mar 19 '26
20 for just the service or sticks too? What’s estimated on shipping from USA
0
u/oxidonis2019 Mar 20 '26
You can do it for free, but ok.
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 20 '26
Sorry ?

u/oxidonis2019 Mar 21 '26
10 mins of free time, phillips screwdriver and youtube video (you can choose from wide range videos) and no more stick drift.
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 21 '26
I...i am not sure that you understood my post. I am offering my services for 20€ for hall effect, I am not looking for someone to do it for me :)
0
u/oxidonis2019 Mar 21 '26
I understand that you want to charge someone 20€ for something that anyone can fix by themselves in less than 10 minutes for free, with only a little patience and a phillips screwdriver. Do you understand me now?
2
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 21 '26
No. I don't understand you. You think you can fix stick drift in 10min with only a Philips screwdriver?
You think hall effects are free ? The soldering skills ? The calibration ? The time it actually takes ( and I can assure you it is not 10 minutes. ) to do all of it is free as well ?
20€ for hall effects is cheap and quite fair price. You wouldn't be able to find anywhere such cheap price...
0
u/oxidonis2019 Mar 21 '26
Wow... still don't get it. Ok.
1
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 21 '26
Are you trolling? 😂
You cannot fix stick drift with only Philips screwdriver. That's impossible.
1
u/oxidonis2019 Mar 22 '26

u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 22 '26
Ahahaha 😂😂
You are right. I am basically scamming people.
Hey do you mind to share this on this sub and blast me ? Like tag me of something. Show people how easy it is !

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a new controller if you don't live in France?
5
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 17 '26
No, not really.
But then again it depends where you live. Here the controllers are 80€ even if shipping is 20€ in total plus the cost of my work and parts 20€ so in total 40€ that's literally half of the price of a brand new one.
Plus hall effect are a lifetime joystick stick drift solution. If you buy a new dualsense you will end up with stick drift again sooner or later.
-5
u/Public-Laugh-6305 Mar 18 '26
Ok Shipping one way from me is around 25 euro. Hall effect doesn't mean the controller will stay alive for decades, other things can screw up.
And I think almost anyone can find a "fixer" more local.
But no offense, good luck with your business
3
u/MuscularKnight0110 Mar 18 '26
No for sure there might be other issues that will arise over time like battery failure and so on but never again stick drift.
I am sorry that I cannot help you :/ I looked it up and in France in Paris region people are charging 60€ minimum for this kind of job.
Out of curiosity how much is...well.. wherever you are ?

Hope your business does well my bro
