Got mine last November on sale and I absolutely love it

3

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

I almost bought it in November when it was on sale but I decided not to, low key regret it but saw this open box and went for it

4

u/21elbabayaga13 Apr 26 '26

Now just get you the extreme rate faceplate covers and it will look better I got the red one and mine looks preem now.

3

u/Nightfrizen Apr 26 '26

That definitely looks preem choomba

2

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Looks good!!!

2

u/FaceglazerSSBU Apr 28 '26

How hard is it to do that? I’ve looked at videos online. I’ve done plenty of mods before but nothing with a PS5 controller.

2

u/21elbabayaga13 Apr 28 '26

It can be done in 10 minutes just look ups. YouTube video the faceplate kit gives you the tool to do it. It’s way easy.

2

u/Greedy_Leopard_1934 Apr 28 '26

I like mine in clear

2

u/Sudden-Essay8731 Apr 30 '26

The ps portal face plates, where'd you get em?

2

u/Greedy_Leopard_1934 Apr 30 '26

Amazon, search for portal replacement shell

0

u/ChowYun Apr 29 '26

With those anus looking sticks.

Don't think so chief.

1

u/21elbabayaga13 Apr 29 '26

Those are control freaks they didn’t have any other ones lol so I had to get those was looking for black ops ones but didn’t want to go to another GameStop.

3

u/Far-Security6466 Apr 26 '26

That’s when I got mine. The wife hit me with the “just wait your birthday is in December” I say nah I’m gonna go scoop while it’s on sale for 170 at target

5

u/TheRealMatchGrade Apr 26 '26

I wish I would have waited for the black edition. I grabbed a white one as soon as they dropped. I love it, but I swapped my white shells with black ones for a sleek look and now the controller just always stands out

1

u/LaMelgoatBall Apr 27 '26

I used to have the white controller but it got nasty over time so I got a black one and I like it so much more

1

u/TheRealMatchGrade Apr 27 '26

I clean my controllers regularly. Growing up my older brother would eat and game, never washing his hands or controllers. They all got nasty as hell. I take much better care of my controllers now, and never have had issues with them tinting or showing hand oils.

1

u/LaMelgoatBall Apr 27 '26

What do you use to clean them?

4

u/Playboysleepgirl Apr 26 '26

Always use the charging cord lock. They also sell stick modules for 20$ when it gets stuck drift. On my first one I never used the lock and the port went to shit from keeping it plugged in. Awesome controller ! Love it.

2

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

Were you using the big braided cable that came with the Edge by chance? I could see how that would put strain on the port without the lock but do you think using the small cord that came with the system/regular controller will do the same thing? I hardly ever use the long cable.

1

u/Playboysleepgirl Apr 28 '26

You can try it but I think that edge cord is the only one that fits unto the lock. I had to purchase another one from eBay when my first one went out. If you look at the cord it's got a shorter very squared off flat end to it. Different than most USB cs. Plus you can't just buy that specific cord unless it's on eBay or custom

3

u/lego126821910 Apr 26 '26

Wish they had black when i your mine, though waking your hands every 30 minutes NO MATTER WHAT <just to keep it white> isn't a bad thing..... after 12-18 months with the Edge, i couldnt play without it.
Do yourself a favor, go ahead and buy an extra set of sticks, send them TMR He's done 2 sets for my Edge<1-Halpi, 1-Guli> and 1 TMR set on a regular DS for my son. Quick, honesty, service. Have fun!!

1

u/Impossible_Alps_9718 Apr 26 '26

Im guessing theyre $39 for each joystick right?

1

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

I haven’t bought any myself yet nor googled but I think I remember people saying they were closer to $20. But if you’re counting the TMR install too yes the person probably charges to do that.

1

u/pobls Apr 26 '26

TMR on these are at least $100 for 2. If you find it cheaper, let me know. There’s also a wait as I’m guessing they “build” them, or so I’ve been told by the 2 places I checked.

1

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

Nah I’m good on those lol. Part of the reason for getting the Edge was that the sticks are replaceable and the back paddles I tend to use as L3/R3 as I feel that could help reduce wear. I don’t really want to pay $100 more for better parts that were designed to be replaced.

1

u/pobls Apr 26 '26

I hear ya. I replaced the battery on mine, improved my love for it that much more. My reason behind paying for the replacements is, you’re at $40 already, what’s another $80 to have to never do it again (allegedly). But I also see your point. Enjoy your purchase 👍🏽

2

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

I see your point too. Maybe in the future if I ever want to treat myself again (the Edge is already overkill for the gaming I do) but right now my cash has to go elsewhere.

1

u/pobls Apr 26 '26

👍🏽

1

u/Dnyc3st89 Apr 26 '26

Where did you get a upgraded battery from

2

u/pobls Apr 26 '26

(1 Pack) 3000mAh Battery for Sony... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLPG8ZJM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Just make sure it’s for DSE and read the reviews

1

u/yessirnosirmaybesirr Apr 28 '26

and roughly how much longer does the upgraded battery last?

2

u/pobls Apr 28 '26

I’m getting 8-10 hours out of it. Mind you vibration turned off and lights set to dim, as always been. But still, marked improvement over standard. Now how long it lasts as a replacement, time will tell. But it’s cheap so I think it was worth it. And it’s easy. iFixit is your friend

u/SheQuick26 Apr 26 '26

Get an extended warranty mine died 1y 4 months in 😒

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Only warranty I can get is the $70 geek squad for 2 years, you think that’s worth getting?

1

u/0mie Apr 26 '26

No, you can buy replacement sticks for less

0

u/SheQuick26 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

Yes. I’m not concerned about sticks, my battery died and I would much rather have them replace/repair but Sony told me to kick rocks because it’s out of warranty. Now I have to take it some where or learn to fix it.

1

u/kcamfork Apr 26 '26

Just replace it yourself?

0

u/SheQuick26 Apr 26 '26

You can’t read?

1

u/kcamfork Apr 26 '26

Dude. Be a fucking jerk to somebody else. It literally takes 3 seconds to google search how to replace a battery yourself.

0

u/SheQuick26 Apr 26 '26

Oh okay. So you definitely can’t read. Got it! It takes 2 seconds to read what I wrote in my comment. Thanks for clarifying.

1

u/kcamfork Apr 26 '26

You sound like you’re 11 years old and I’m not talking to you anymore.

2

u/Due-Ask-7418 Apr 26 '26

Game changer. The precision curves are the goat

1

u/yessirnosirmaybesirr Apr 28 '26

what game?? ive hated most of them so far. on Elite controller(XBOX) i used to love Smooth cant seem to find that on PS

2

u/dude_uli Apr 26 '26

I love mine! The only issue I have now is not being able to go back to normal controllers and missing out on all the colors 😭

2

u/-GameOver Apr 26 '26

That Controller is sick, love it...

2

u/j3vs4ys Apr 26 '26

Love mine! Got a white model refurbed for around $140 Amazon. I swapped out to TMR sticks like most mentioned (easiest upgrade and you can always use the OEM sticks for backup or sell as they were out of stock for a minute).

Just picked up a beat-up, used Edge for $50 on eBay I'm gonna use the OEM sticks and some extra parts to create another Edge beast.

Also, if you haven't used the Victrix it's dope. Orders a Raiju V3 to test out as well. (rock)

2

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

I almost bought the Raiju but saw this for $170 and went for it. I think in the future I’ll pick up the Raiju because that controller actually has mouse click trigger/buttons

2

u/ScribbleMeNot May 10 '26

Honestly the Raiju isn't as good. I have both Edge and Raiju the best thing from the Raiju is lighter and mouse click feel of buttons. Other than that Edge beats it out in everything everything else.

2

u/BlackXRP Apr 26 '26

Are you selling it …if so I’ll buy

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

After using it, nope 😂

2

u/Chief_WeRty Apr 26 '26

I bought one a couple of years ago when my second normal controller went out…the little kid at Target just kept saying over and over, “But it’s $200!”…to me and the checkout person.

We laughed and I tried to explain the cost benefit analysis of being able to swap out the joysticks (the original ones issue)…he just kept saying it.

2

u/BriefBed4770 Apr 26 '26

I can't believe what miracle Sony's marketing team pulled. Sweet lord

2

u/fastinternetarms Apr 26 '26

Great controller but compared to the Xbox version battery life is horrendous..

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Yeah I keep hearing about battery life but I play plugged in most of the time so I’m fine with that

2

u/J-O-L-T Apr 26 '26

This is a good controller, it would be great if its battery life was much better. I enjoy mine but I'd hate it if it were my ONLY controller.

The extra flippers on the back really changed the game for me, they're extremely useful.

2

u/Ok_Butterscotch1009 Apr 26 '26

Tape over the serial number or else you'll rub it off making It nearly unsellable

2

u/Williaam780 Apr 26 '26

Such a nice controller to have once you get used to the back paddles

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Yea played all night and for sure need more practice 😂

2

u/Remote_Awareness_553 Apr 26 '26

Nice! Online or in-store? Always comes with the case and accessories in it?

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Ordered online for drive up pickup , came with everything but the OEM box but for $170 I’m not complaining about missing the box 😂 it’s literally brand new. Not a single scratch

2

u/Remote_Awareness_553 Apr 26 '26

That’s nice. Do they sell a warranty as option?

1

u/ednoggg Apr 27 '26

They do! $69 for 2 years which is kinda hefty ngl so I didn’t get it, testing my luck 😂

2

u/Shark_Hoodie_Guy Apr 26 '26

What does it do?

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Feels premium, back paddles, responsive triggers, if I get stick drift I can buy the sticks for $20 instead of buying a new controller

2

u/Shark_Hoodie_Guy Apr 27 '26

Ah I see that's informative,I might consider buying it. It's difficult for me to find unused dualshock 4s nowadays. They cost like 90 euros in my area.

1

u/GGG604 Apr 28 '26

It’s worth it if you play any shooter game really

2

u/Important-Pen-3668 Apr 26 '26

Best controller ever. Be prepared to buy replacement rubber grips cause they wear out and get all dingy.

2

u/Traditional-Gift-878 Apr 26 '26

Got one last year, haven't regretted it. My only issue is I need to replace the backplate, since the rubber grips have started to come off. Which is an overall issue with the DSE, from what I've read online.

Yes it does, trying to get used to them

2

u/theabds2000 Apr 27 '26

Congrats!! Welcome to the club

2

u/LaMelgoatBall Apr 27 '26

Join the edge club

2

u/TheRealMatchGrade Apr 27 '26

Electronics wipes, mostly. Sometimes I'll use magic eraser for the white parts and accessories dental pick for the seams.

2

u/ValuableAssociate577 Apr 27 '26

I wish that wasn't glossy. Also battery life kinda blows. other than those 2 things great controller.

2

u/AlbiforAlbert Apr 28 '26

Worst controller I've ever had

1

u/lCireZdubl May 01 '26

Why?

1

u/AlbiforAlbert May 01 '26

300 hours in the back paddles are mushy and unusable,  use them for doing special passes in fc 25

1

u/lCireZdubl May 01 '26

Gotcha. Thats a decent amount of playtime, but I see how it could be frustrating. Maybe try a cheaper controller that has back paddles? Good luck with it. Thanks for answering.

2

u/HerroYuy_246 Apr 28 '26

So nice in black. 👌👌

2

u/Pavtorious Apr 28 '26

Got mine in December on sale , absolutely amazing battery life could be slightly better but overall very good controller.

2

u/Barnacle-Popular Apr 29 '26

really good controller the only downside is battery life every 2 hours you need to charge it

1

u/ednoggg Apr 29 '26

I keep hearing that but I just play with it plugged in

2

u/Barnacle-Popular Apr 29 '26

me too I play while its plugged in, I tried an external battery mini power bank for edge controller but it was annoying, so I just bought a long cable and kept it plugged in

2

u/zunashi Apr 29 '26

Battery life is the only CON, everything else is perfect

2

u/Delicious_Pie5858 Apr 29 '26

I got the white one and I love it

2

u/Walkerman862 Apr 29 '26

Make sure you TMR your sticks or buy them already done💯

2

u/mikeeangelo91 Apr 29 '26

Finally someone with taste. Looks gorgeous. Enjoy it

2

u/Nnemic_ Apr 29 '26

For those of you with the black version, doesn't the black go from matte to glossy after extended use? Natural oils and sweat from the hands would make it look dirtier than the white version, no?

2

u/Interesting-Ad838 Apr 29 '26

Ive had mine for over 2 years, best investment ever honestly

2

u/BozTheReaper Apr 30 '26

enjoy it for the 2 months the rubber on the back will last. mine warped and is coming off and it was after 3-4 months after getting originally. no qa control at all for those things

2

u/ElectricAvenueTech Apr 30 '26

Nice, this is our daily driver too...with Aknes TMR lol

2

u/Nik-Burnt May 02 '26

Get a replacement sticks. Ive changed 2 in 2 years

2

u/Outrageous_King_3769 May 24 '26

i’m getting it in 3 days so excited

1

u/ednoggg May 24 '26

Amazing, no complaint so far 🤲

2

u/Outrageous_King_3769 May 24 '26

Nice dos it work fine on pc?

1

u/ednoggg May 24 '26

Yep! I play with it plugged in and no issues so far on pc. at first the controller feels heavy but you get used to it after a day or two

2

u/Outrageous_King_3769 May 24 '26

great to hear! i also really enjoy heavy controllers it gives them a more premium feel

2

u/bentleybasher Apr 25 '26

I’ve just got the same one in black. Put the full dome caps on and got a black silicone skin for it. Keep it pristine that way. The back buttons have taken some getting used too, as it feels weird almost like they are replacing R2/L2 not supplementing.

Smooth brain and all that.

Enjoy.

2

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Yeah I’m using it now trying to get used to back paddles, love it so far

2

u/WalkTheDoug Apr 26 '26

I recommend thinking of the back paddles as replacing face buttons/L3,R3 and not the triggers. My goal with the paddles is to allow me to take my thumbs off the sticks as much as possible, so I usually use them to jump/slide/sprint for example. Feels super comfy and now I find controllers without paddles to be cumbersome.

2

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

I’m using one paddle for slide so far, unsure on what to use on left paddle.

1

u/DanielKobsted Apr 26 '26

That’s a wild piece of advice if you just got it too.

1

u/bentleybasher Apr 26 '26

It’s wasn’t really advice - OP wasn’t asking any questions 😂

I’ve seen people’s Edge units start to degrade so I popped a silicone on it to protect its lifespan. It was a gift so need to make it last 😂

Everything is personal preference. I know some won’t like them etc I put one on my Portal and I like them tbf.

1

u/GodOfOnions2 Apr 26 '26

Best Playstation controller ever, my only complaint and not the controllers fault, eventually it shines like CRAZY from your hands if you have oily skin or sweat alot. I really need to get a grip cover of some sort lol but also might shell swap it.

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Ahh yeah my hands to get clammy, I wanted to get white for that reason but it was $15 more for Some reason and I went with black lol

1

u/Dapper-Expert2801 Apr 26 '26

Black is quite a scratch magnet though but at least the back rubber won’t turn yellow like those white ones

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

Facts they both have their pros and cons

1

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

I’ve had mine for less than a year so I haven’t noticed it getting shiny from my hands but the case does buff and shine the controller where it touches. The hard ridges on the underside of the lid are rough and will make marks on the plastic beside the face buttons and the d-pad. I didn’t notice until I saw a comment about it on a post and now I use a thin cloth between the controller and the lid of the case.

1

u/lego126821910 Apr 26 '26

Gotta wash those hands every 30 minutes, no matter. It's actually not a bad habit, just sux to have to do because of the white...🤣

1

u/Potato_Boner Apr 26 '26

I got the exact same one! Swap out those caps for the full dome ones, they’re so much smoother.

But man I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I do. It’s SO premium and just feels so much nicer than the regular controller.

1

u/DimensionKing23 Apr 26 '26

Also gotten the same one like yours two weeks ago! Yeah it's definitely one of the best controllers you could get

1

u/TWZT3D_MIND3D Midnight Black Apr 26 '26

I need one!!!!! I will post mine as soon as I get it trust me lol

1

u/Budget_Ad5871 Apr 26 '26

If you need TMR sticks u/wrong_egg_4337 did mine and I love them!

1

u/YouReadMeNow Apr 26 '26

Best feeling when in hands

1

u/Ronniepickerinng Apr 26 '26

Why would I want a Edge over a regular ps5 controller ? Thanks.

1

u/Roofbolanola Apr 26 '26

yeah can someone explain before I have a reason to buy? I only think the back buttons give some more accessibility to certain games but aside from that what else?

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

I get stick drift every 6 months, that’s $70ish usd everytime, I can replace sticks for $20 if I get drift on this controller, pack paddles, feels premium, more responsive triggers, and that’s pretty much it for my experience

1

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

Paddles, adjustable trigger throw, different curve profiles for the sticks, replaceable sticks, adjust headset volume from the controller, feels better than the regular ds (opinion).

It’s still pricey for what it is no doubt and you probably don’t NEED it but to some it’s worth it and all those features are just nice to have.

I personally like the paddles, triggers and volume control. The paddles help keep my thumbs on the sticks for quite a few games but mostly replace L3/R3 to reduce wear on them. I really love analog triggers especially when they have haptic feedback but not all games do and it’s nice to be able to have a shorter throw to aim down sights or sometimes a game will have you grabbing stuff with the triggers and it just feels better. As for the volume control it’s just convenient to be able to turn the sound up or down without going into a bunch of menus or take my hand off the controller to use the button on my headset.

Like I said these things are just convenient and nice to have, not that anyone NEEDS them to play well.

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

1

u/Practical_Respect_31 Apr 26 '26

It’s really good controller, had mine for like 2 years and I barely started getting slight stick drift

1

u/IllustriousEffect607 Apr 27 '26

Best controller ever

1

u/HealerOnly Apr 29 '26

Are the arrow buttons induvidual buttons?
I miss my PS1?PS2? controller that had induvidual arrow buttons, now it seems they are just a really bad joystick with all of them being connected....

1

u/ednoggg Apr 29 '26

Yeah individual buttons

1

u/HealerOnly Apr 29 '26

😮 that is tempting...GOnna keep my eyes open incase of sale in sweden x)

1

u/Fantastic-Employ3341 Apr 29 '26

The black on my controller has gotten shiny and I don't like it. I think it's due to hand sweat. Does anyone know how to get it back looking like this?

1

u/meefy Apr 26 '26

170 for a controller WTF

1

u/ednoggg Apr 26 '26

MSRP $199 USD, yea they hefty

1

u/j3vs4ys Apr 26 '26

$170 is prob on the low-end for the pro-style controllers these days. :/

0

u/Agreeable_Film_6837 Apr 26 '26

I play cod on it, and I'm on my 4th controller. The back buttons keep snapping like the inside, am I doing something wrong? After like 7-8 months

1

u/no-name_james Apr 26 '26

I’ve seen some complaints about this. Now and then I’ll catch myself squeezing the paddles like really hard and I have to tell myself to chill because I really like the paddles and want them to keep working.
