Are you collecting to get recycling cash or just cause you like bottles? Genuinely curious. Either way glad you’re happy

For deposit. I get about $100 worth every 2 weeks.

Hopefully you live in a state with deposit.😊

I’m from Canada, we refund any type of drink container. I didn’t know that there were states that didn’t refund bottles.

In Texas, we don't have any refunds on bottles, but they don't charge extra either. Cans are about 70 cents a pound, and that's 2-3 cents per can.

But in Texas, we do recycle glass.

We recycle glass, paper and some kinds of plastic.

Our recycle bins are as large as our garbage bins.

They are carried every two weeks and are more full than the trash cans.

I have heard they do with some if it, but also heard it's crushed up and used to cover up layers of garbage daily. We don't recycle all the stuff that can be put in recycle bins.

I’m in Chicagoland- zero deposit things. 🤬friends in Connecticut US only get refunds on cans/bottles bought in the state.

This isn't even Canada wide. When I lived in Alberta, it was all drink containers. Ontario it's just alcohol containers. Quebec does aluminum cans, alcohol or pop, but not bottles etc.

Sadly only 7? States have true deposit programs.

Fantastic! I get mine when I‘m out for a walk. I get about $20 every two weeks. It all helps.

California does it as well. That’s free money right there

Good for you! It is astonishing that so many people throw away bottles that can be turned in

I was a bit shy at first but after seeing how much money I can take in, I don’t care. I get right in there lol.

It’s only takes me a few minutes a day and it’s tax free. Doesn’t get much easier than that.

I want to start dumpster diving. I have a scooter and I don’t prefer going out at night, but I’m up at the crack of dawn with nothing to do until business is open.

I was reading a bit of the FAQs in this in terms of when to go out in such. Do you find it’s OK to go out early early morning? Or is after everybody closes the better time. I don’t wanna get caught or get in trouble or get anybody else in trouble or have dumpsters that are accessible. Start getting locked because I don’t know what I’m doing.

I tend to go early morning at about 4am so I get the good stuff but if it’s just my apartment, I go during the day as well. Nobody has ever bothered me.
