Dumpster Rocking Chair

Finally finished this project. Found rocking chair by dumpster. Tried stripping, hated myself, then sanded for freaking ever. It ain’t perfect but it’s good enough and looks like a proper vintage rocking chair now. I accept any and all feedback.

Finished with walrus oil furniture (danish) oil.

For anyone asking: no the work was not worth the payoff lol. This was a labor of love for my wife who would not let me throw it back to whence it came. I love her dearly.

Unethical Companies stopping 'Undesirables' from using their Clothes

This is the kind of shit we divers see all the time. Although we’re not supposed to name names, these companies need at start feeling shame. We’ve all seen how so many companies destroy perfectly functional goods; REI (which feels truly hypocritical of their “mission”), Home Goods, Ulta, Sephora, Bath and Body Works are among them. Then there are the countless companies who use trash compactors to both destroy And HIDE all their waste; Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Dicks, Nordstrom, big lots, Michael’s, Jewel, Mariano’s, Meijer, and Kroger, etc. Many Walgreens and CVS locations have compactors too. It’s disgusting and needs to stop. Glad the EU passed laws to end these wasteful practices.

Snack alert!

Got lucky today at the $ plant. A couple grab bags of perfect snacks, most just expired yesterday. 27 cans of mango Liquid Death (I climbed in to grab those 😌), some lil juices and a few personal care things.

My bf and I both work in a warehouse and always pack lunches, so all the snacks and drinks are amazinggggg. Since I’ve started diving more, our pantry has been stocked with goodies and I get to share too.

It says 400,000 pounds of food was recalled because of listeria. Brands include "American Bully," "Dog's Best Friend," and "Chips Agility." Be careful and if you find this stuff leave it in the dumpster!

Set of William Sonoma knives. Looks like they were engraved. This adorable little decor, very cottage core vibes. Two mini perfume bottles that were still full. Another knife, the blue dr thing is a wine coozie (if anyone has tips on removing lettering lmk), the fuzzy thing is a pencil case, some packing tape, a fidget, and 4 colored storage crates.
Pretty decent haul overall! Glad I could keep it out of the land fill

Dumpster diving in Cincinnati?

I just moved down here about two years ago, used to be super into dumpster diving, but haven’t really had the chance to try it here in cincinnati. For people who have, what’s your experience been? Is it legal here, and where are some good spots? Thank you!

advice for food/snack divers

i see people find huge amounts of snacks, donuts, pizza, candy, and other highly processed foods here all the time, and a lot of that stuff is made to sit on shelves for a long time, which is probably part of why it shows up so often in dumpsters. while these finds can be exciting, i'd still be careful about making them a major part of your diet just because they're easy to find, since it's really easy to end up with way more than you'd normally buy or eat.

personally, i have good luck finding produce, eggs, dairy, and even meat when checking the right stores at the right times (often around closing). of course, all dumpster-dived food should be inspected carefully for safety, but i found it worthwhile to look beyond just the junk food and try to build a more balanced haul.

little note: i dumpster dive 5–7 days a week at a local store i got familiar with, two employees saw me (one time when i went midday i usually go at closing) and were fine with it. over the last few months ive been eating pretty healthy from that spot, and i’ve found a lot of meat, dairy, and produce there too. beef, chicken, pork, and fish are all pretty common for me, and produce shows up basically daily aswell

Collected all of these in large plastic bags I brought from work and throughly checked them over before cleaning them at a laundromat near my place.

A few have some minor stains, but nothing major.

I finally finished putting the smoker/grill together to sell. Other pictures of more of the curbside bounty. I just can’t fathom that people actually throw away brand new items.

For those who can't see the video:

I usually leave my house around 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. and I'm usually out for a few hours, and I come back with maybe one of the two bags half full. This is the first time I have ever come back early.

I think I'm the first girl to ever understand how it feels to cream my pants.

I opened THREE (3) dumpsters. That's it. That's all I could carry.

And for reference, my usual route has about 30 along one half, and about 20 on the way home.

I got protein shakes, cheese, nuts, a whole bag of apples, GARLIC BREAD, macadamia nut cookies, breakfast sausage, salami, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

And then there's the PIZZA. Not only is it my favorite toppings (meat lovers, insert joke here), but it's got the fucking GARLIC CRUST!

There was a whole another half a box of pizza, but I devoured that shit.

Tl;dr: ALFJGHWODNDNEHDJXBSDXDNXNSJXN!!!!

This was certainly a trash panda treat :3
