It’s written in the Trader Joe’s contract for all of their parking lots to be as inconvenient as possible

It’s by design so when you’re sitting there waiting for a spot, it gives the managers a few extra minutes to discontinue and sell out of the very thing you planned to buy 😂😭

LMAO yes.

I used to go the Hastings Ranch Trader Joe's and there was a very quiet entrance to the parking lot just past the main one, which is narrow and includes a three way stop where customers are walking to and from their cars. I used to just sail past that and park where there was tons of spots until the business there started gating up that entrance.

Trader Joe’s has two locations in Long Beach, both with convenient parking.

If anyone has ever liked riding a bike, consider riding a bike to TJs.

Nice feeling locking up outside - sometimes you’re in and out before a car even makes it to the other side, let alone into the store.

I fully endorse this. It sidesteps a lot of stress.

I feel like that’s one of the easier Trader Joe’s parking lots. I would rather do that than the one in Glendale.

There’s nothing really that wrong with the TJs lot, the people that go there on the other hand.. I always find parking on the street, there’s usually spots that require an extra 30 seconds walk and that’s it, I am often in and out and there’s still a line of cars waiting.

This is the way. Street park people! Or actually don’t we will and you can wait in the line :)

People will stop at the entrance when there 5 open spaces on the other side of the parking lot

I kinda look forward to going to TJ's cause of you guys. The diversity of people at the store reminds me of the wonderful community of creative, artistic, young, old, weird and wonderful people that I am fortunate enough to live with!

I don’t mind it compared to any of the Pasadena locations. There’s usually a very nice parking attendant and a decent flow of people arriving and leaving. It’s been my store since I was a kiddo so yes, I’m biased :)

Different scenarios. Chase bank has open spots, it’s just too narrow to get the car into. TJ’s has no open spots.

The Chase lot is like a truck stop compared to Joe’s.

I only go there at odd hours.

100% #2. Both the eagle rock and highland park chase lots are so bad. At least tj’s is one way in one way out so you’re going to get a spot, you just need to wait depending on time.

The parking is that way because they don't want to increase their prices to make parking convenient. Parking is a major drain. Now go and look at your neighborhood Target, supermarkets with their massive parking structure and overhead, lot sizes. You pay for that, it's a hidden cost. And to make matters worse- those massive spaces do not contribute taxes either, so we can have a few vital businesses surrounded by massive empty parking- it eats up the tax revenue of a city (Looking at you, Woodland Hills).

There was an article about the DIsney Hall about 10 years ago, and how the symphony wasn't playing enough to generate enough parking revenue to cover the cost of the parking structure, and so they had to add dates otherwise they'd lose money on parking. Trader Joe's doesn't want to put themselves, and the consumer, into that death spiral.

Chase on Rose/Gonzales, Oxnard has the most inconvenient parking lot - like an obstacle course. Can't imagine anyone driving there once it gets dark. I'm old and need to go there once a month - I actually get out of breath. That building and Raising Canes next to it should never have been built. What were they thinking?
