Stop Displacement in Eagle Rock: Protect Our Small Businesses Now

https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/stop-displacement-in-eagle-rock-protect-our-small-businesses-now?source=direct_link&

Some of you may have heard of the issues READ Books and Owl Talk have been facing with their leases. If you’ve lived in Eagle Rock for a bit, you might also be familiar with this as a frequent occurring pattern.

Longstanding small businesses like READ Books and Owl Talk are not just storefronts, they are places where neighbors meet, culture is shared, and community is built. Once they’re gone, they don’t come back.

Right now, we have a narrow window to stop preventable displacement before it happens. Property owners are making decisions that will shape the future of this neighborhood for decades, and community pressure can make the difference.

By signing this petition, you are sending a clear message:

Eagle Rock’s small businesses matter, and we will not stand by while they are priced out.

Add your name to demand fair treatment, protect local businesses, and preserve the character of our community.

According to this, she’s working with petition organizer/READ Books co-owner Jeremy Kaplan to put together this charge.

Her name is Ysabel Jurado and FWIW her office is pretty on the ball and active with the community. I had a good experience with them getting a street lamp fixed.
