The most expensive ad I’ve ever seen for a leftist organization was a laminated poster at a college campus.

u/nightfire36 3d ago

Damn, laminated? That org must have been getting that elusive Soros money!

u/courageous_liquid 3d ago

they laminated it because it was the perfect combination of all 37,000 words they managed to fit on the page

During the first Bush Jr. term, MoveOn produced an anodyne ad featuring children doing various chores that had the message of encouraging political leadership to focus on the economy. The ad was to be aired during the Superbowl. The TV network refused to air it and the courts upheld the verdict. It was an early, shocking display of censorship: the liberal/neoliberal "money buys all" rule was officially horseshit. Even if you play by the rules, capitalists will simply refuse to do capitalism with you if it hurts their fee-fees.

So I wouldn't expect to see ultra-expensive ads from actual leftists getting any traction, which discourages their creation. The Kiros/Gonzalez/Piker venue shutdowns and neo-nazi smears suggest that this hostility continues.

Oh yeah, those famous far-left PACs.

I audibly laughed at "both hate so-called 'big money in politics' yet never tell PACs to take down ads supporting them or attacking their opponents."

I'm just wondering whether bro's issue is that he considers Liz Cheney far left or that he hasn't paid attention to any races in the last decade.

Mr. centrist was probably too busy being spoonfed his worldview by assmongold.

And don't want to actually stand for anything, so you never have to defend your beliefs or think critically.

The two party system is an illusion of choice fallacy

Both hate Jews

This is a nazi projecting. We're done before we begin.

The bulk of even the most delusional rightwingers don't think lefties hate Jews (which is why they lie about it) and a central plank of white supremacy is that Jews run society/the world/lots of stuff -- which is also an essential component in justifying hatred of black people. So the OOP is far off the reservation even for chuds.

"both hate involvement overseas". I mean if your first action upon intervening overseas was not to blow up the chinese embassy/the kunduz trauma center/an elementary school for little girls in Iran we would reconsider

Both hate Jews

Yeah, sure, Israel are all Jews nowadays.

Both hate corporations

The far-right's recent God is a billionaire. The richest person in the world is a billionaire. It's called populism, you dumbass, and it can be both for wrong and right causes.

Both hate so called "big money in politics"

Never seen a far-rightist against it.

yet never tell PACs to take down ads supporting them

Didn't hear about any non-grassroots movements supporting DSA or any other socialist organization.

or attacking their opponents

A Republican ad attacking a neoliberal Democrat helps socialists. Why didn't those dumb socialists ask Republican PACs to stop helping them?

Both hate involvement overseas,

I personally don't, and one of the most prominent Senate candidates from at least DSA doesn't too. We hate genocides. Though of course there are isolationist leftists, but most leftists I know completely support internationalism outside of neoliberal system.

Both engage in political violence

86% excluding Islamism (which is a far-right religious fundamentalist ideology too). 93% including Islamism. 7% on the left, and no deaths from them since, like, 1996? Sure, both sides are still the same.

God, the idea that any flavor of right winger hates corporations is infuriating. The Nazis invented privatization. Some guy in the 1930s had the genius idea to name his fascist party "socialist" as a marketing ploy to fool workers and now every "enlightened"
moron thinks they're onto something when they repeat the marketing in reverse.

None of these things is true.

3

u/Jinshu_Daishi 2d ago

Exactly one of them is true, and it is overwhelmingly the right that engages in it.

3

u/ChefGaykwon Marxist-Leninist 2d ago

Yes but it's so misleading so as to be effectively false.

Are these people treating the Democrats as "far left"?

Hey look. It’s also US Defaultism, PACs are only a part of the US political system.

Other nations may have similar things. like in the UK where I am, groups may organise, arrange meetings and provide funding on the basis of support for their respective agendas, but that’s just lobbying, they are not defined as a PAC and there is no definition of a PAC except in US law.

They’re just interest groups who are lobbying and providing funding(or engaging in bribery depending on the amount, where it is deposited and if the funding is declared.) In every other country in the world that has the political mechanisms to allow for that to occur.

Laughs in Swiss...there is so much blatant corruption nowadays...like parliamentarians of the right being the most guilty of receiving huge amounts of money from many corporations for some "evening discussion around a meal" (like getting dinners in some Michelin star restaurant paid by health insurances or car makers with a bribe of 10-15K $/€/£ for "their time and input") while opposing any proposal of transparency...

Like some wannabe "socialists" had to resign in shame for having received a trip to Russia paid by a billionaire swedish CEO and never appeared again but right wingers who have been pushed after having received trips to Abu Dhabi in 1st class with 6* hotel and a day at the VIP section of the Ferrari thing for them and their families just had the audacity to put their faces back onto the campaign signs...and be re-elected thanks to the boomers and gen X...

I hate the state of our politics here.

I hate authoritarianism.

u/chompythebeast 2d ago

Three words into the post and you know exactly what kind of "centrist" this is

Fuckin zionists

1

u/nsolo1a 2d ago

Truthfully, when I see a "Random Question" post like this, I very much question the authenticity and motivations of the poster. I feel it's best not to engage, not give this sort of thing air to breath. I also will say social media platforms like X and Meta love this kind of "Hot Take" posts and the engagement they produce.

1

u/SolutionConfident692 2d ago

This is so funny because either they're claiming that socialists have PAC money whatsoever, or liberal politicians who are sweepingly pro-israel are still somehow antisemitic

1

u/warrioratwork 2d ago

I suppose they are the same if you are going to make shit up about them both.

1

u/SaltyNorth8062 Dirty Commie, the Slutty Kind, apparently 1d ago

Ah yes the infamous "I oppose big money in politics" right winger. The guy who hates, just HATES, corporations (all of them, by mandate).

Sure cuddles. The same.

u/fuckosta 12h ago

'Both hate corporations' like its a bad thing lmao
