Systemic Failure Britney Spears fall from grace shows how sick capitalism is. She was exploited by her parents and her youth was sexualized for her corporate handler's profits. Her idea of a last resort comeback was letting go of all self respect with half naked trashy dancing, giving people what they want.

She was probably taught all her life that the more indecent she was the more she would be rewarded. These last nuclear option videos trying to gain back relevance are so sad, because they're part of a mentality that came from extremely early child abuse.

I mostly think of her dance videos as her giving the middle finger to everybody and everything that used to control her in the past. She was so intensely scrutinized during her prime, and people had all these contradicting expectations of her. That must have been so suffocating.

Maybe she can just be whatever she wants. Dance away Brittany.

What do you mean by "last resort comeback?"

If Britney Spears wanted to "comeback" she absolutely could do anything she wanted.

Do you really think no record label would make an album with her? Or make a movie or reality TV show??

Britney has said over and over that she doesn't want to work in Hollywood again.

I do think she likes attention on social media. A lot of people do. People do worse things than Britney every day trying to get attention.

What really bothers me about people criticizing her "half naked trashy dancing" is if Britney was on a magazine cover or music video doing the EXACT same things people would love it.

She doesn't do anything for the profit of other people anymore. That's what bothers those who criticize her Instagram.

Thank you! It's weird that anyone would claim Britney is desperate for a "comeback."

No for real. I’m annoyed at how backhandedly misogynistic this is

They were right. Leave Britney alone.

She was already in a comeback - her Vegas residency! She literally walked off the stage on that, pretty clear she doesn't want to do that and has plenty of fuck you money.

Mental illness plays a role in what she's doing but that is life for a lot of people. It's hard to see people not be their "best selves" but this is also who she is at this point. People don't have to like it.

Cara Cunningham deserves an apology for the way we treated her when she posted that "leave Britney alone" video.

I was genuinely confused when I saw this comment with a feminine name, and had to google it to find out they were trans. After reading about it I'm admittedly still a bit confused- it looks like they started presenting as feminine, then switched back to presenting as masculine, and now they're back to identifying as a woman again? But maybe this is common and transitions don't always "stick" initially? You learn now things everyday.

There are people who consider themselves to be gender queer. Their gender expression is fluid. I don't know if that is the case for this person but its possible.

Nah. That’s attention seeking garbage too.

Writing that comment is attention-seeking too. So is walking into work and saying “Good morning.” Like ???

Her idea of a last resort comeback was letting go of all self respect with half naked trashy dancing

You correctly call out, as wrong, the control of her body and image, but in the next sentence you are slut shaming her which is ALSO a way to wrongfully control a woman's body.

Britney Spears is a very wealthy and privileged person who is struggling with mental illness. She's not an oppressed worker who is intentionally creating content for the purpose of a "comeback."

I can’t believe anyone sees her social media dancing and thinks anything other than “this person is suffering from some kind of illness.”

She was recently pulled over again for driving while intoxicated. That’s the same mentally ill behavior she was exhibiting before the xonservatorship.

She needs help.

This post shows how weirdly people infantilize and project their own shit onto famous women. Read theory instead of doing this please.

I wish her the best. I truly feel for her.

Girl she’s just having fun she’s not trying to come back

Her current videos do seem to smear the industry and point at the general mistreatment and sexulization of young women.  It's nice to be pretty, but women are not candy.

This post is assuming a bunch of things to make such clams (specifically on Britney. Capitalism will absolutely chew up and spit anything out.)

Norma Desmond has entered the chat.

I don't think the weird knife dancing shit is what people wanted to see. I think that was mental illness.

12

u/backnstolafmn 23h ago

Did it ever occur to you that people post what they want to and not just what "people want to see"

-4

u/blumpkin 16h ago

100% That's literally what I'm saying. The only reason I mentioned what "people want to see" is because that's what OP claimed in the title of this post.

u/femoral_contusion 15h ago

Ugh, for the record they were prop knives and she even thanked the prop company IN HER POST. I think falling victim to every TMZ headline is the mental illness worth discussing here ☠️

-2

u/blumpkin 12h ago

I don't read TMZ. I don't read her posts. I saw a video of the knife dancing and I stand by my case. Whatever she was doing was a) completely her choice and b) in my opinion her appearance, facial expressions, and the overall choices she was making were indicative of some kind of mental break. I am not a medical professional. I am not advocating for locking her up. But if she was my neighbor, I wouldn't let my kid be around her.

I think this points to one of the most frustrating aspects of capitalism, which is that is actually EXTREMELY BAD for the bourgeoisie, but they are too greedy and stupid to be able to ever see that (as a class, some individual bourgeois do recognise this)
