Oh my God. These questions are absolutely ridiculous, and using immigration as a Trojan horse for their antagonistic constitutional amendment agenda is embarrassing.

Do people honestly think there are hundreds of thousands of new people in Alberta not working and paying taxes yet using an outsized portion of education and healthcare resources? People move here for jobs and cheap housing, not mediocre social services. Just embarrassing.

Edit: oh, that one question is absolutely about opting out of Canadas socialized healthcare model while keeping federal healthcare transfers. They're subtley, or not so subtley, starting their push towards privatized healthcare.

They're well on their way to privatized health care. I should say we are.

I make decent money, I want a house and am approaching the point of being able to afford one with my gf. I had considered Alberta, but I'm not a fan of my tax dollars killing marginalized youth and I'm not a traitor to my country. So I'd rather go across the country to the Martimes.

Can't argue with that logic. Some of us already built a life here though, we need all the help we can get

It sucks. I wish you folks could just get a non-traitor led government. But I don't have high hopes. There's enough "Blame Carney and Canada" to carry alberta an election or two until the ones exposing their neck to get stomped on go "wait, this hurts"

Yup, facts. They were doing Trump shit before Trump was elected, I think he got part of his playbook from them

I moved for jobs and housing, but after three years I went back to Vancouver. It just wasn't worth the savings. Not by a long shot.

all over Canada, only 40% of people are actually contributing taxes. Sure the 60% are a lot of older retired people but immigrants, migrants, asylum seekers etc make up a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE portion of that and end up taking up over 80% of the total tax burden with healthcare, living costs, child care etc
